In another life, I am an erudite, fascinating, witty, sexy libertine. As it stands, I am mainly a disappointment. Occasional pots. He/Him. Also @[email protected], formerly @cawhitworth on Twitter

Microsoft hates computers AND everyone who uses them, whereas Apple only hates computers, and Linux only hates the people who use them. In this essay I will
Yeah pretty sure someone must have figured this out by now, seems too important that we’d just be making this shit up as we went along right
it will be approximately seven years before I stop laughing at this

My strongest book-related belief is that the paperback should come first and then the hardback after for people who want a fancy edition.

They have gone further on treating those with mental health issues, and those who are neurodivergent, as an "issue to be solved" rather than people to be supported, which, arguably due to increased salience, has contributed to increased discrimination. 3/5

Also, this block list removes accounts that steal photos and post without credit or context. Following the actual photographers is way more fun, you get the stories behind the photos plus a real person who will answer questions or just chat about cool nature stuff.

oh yeah that's just the app developers being shit; there *is* a solution there, they just haven't bothered with it
The TV volume should be a multiple of 2.5 centred around 50 for broadcast TV, 45 for streaming TV and 35 for games consoles. LADIES.
(also, there's the problem that if you play two songs and one is perceived as louder than the other, people will tend to prefer the louder one, so producers will push the loudness levels so their songs stand out. Similar reason adverts are loud.)
(it's a really hard problem because perception of volume is a tricksy thing and depends on a number of things, including frequency, and like, how "loud" is a song that is mostly quiet but has one big loud bit? LUFS attempts to bundle all that up into one number but it's still super subjective)
There is one! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EBU_R_128

But virtually no-one hits the -23 LUFS target. It varies between -14 and -18 across the streaming services.

"Which unspecified speech acts?"

"Oh, you know the ones"
Not once have I seen an explanation for why teenagers must hear things that upset them in virtue of the unspecified speech-acts being upsetting, nor have I ever seen an explanation for why teenagers will be forbidden to express displeasure with upsetting things.

Adwaith, fucking great. Welsh-language post-punk garage-psyche-alt-pop.
We’re not interested in discovering underlying cause if we can alleviate symptoms, huh. Cool, cool. Definitely ok with this. It’s fine.
So on the one hand it’s nice that the drugs to make the numbers go down have made the numbers go down. But on the other hand, today’s appointment was supposed to be about figuring out why the numbers had gone up in the first place, but apparently we’re not interested in that now they’ve gone down?

Ah yeah the racist from The Apprentice who was on Strictly presumably to fulfil some kind of facism quota also says “bosh” all the time. Probably just best to mentally block anyone who says it, can’t see that anything of value will be lost.
