You can’t just rock up to another country and go “yeah I thought I’d make a few quid while I’m here”! That is, for better or worse, extremely not how it works! You will - at best - be deported! If you try this in America you will probably be detained and possibly disappeared!

For *years* I thought I'd entirely hallucinated this. I caught on C4 one time as a young 'un (back when they used to just drop random Eastern European animations in to the schedule as filler content) and couldn't find anything about it; no-one else knew what I was talking about.

When our album Plumb was on the #mercuryprize list in 2012, we were only allocated two seats at the ceremony. Additional seats cost £400+VAT iirc so, just to have Kev and Andrew, our actual band members, at the table with us would have cost more than the entire recording budget for the album.
