so: what do we need you to do? two things.

1.call your D/I senators. find contact info here: reps.fyi

what do we need you to say? try the call script below. adapt it; make it your own! there are bailout points written in, in case you get nervous. but please *call.* 🧵
Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm one of Senator [THEIR NAME]'s constituents. House Republicans are trying to insert a multiple articles of anti-trans legislation, including a full transgender healthcare funding ban, into the F-Y '26 budget. I'm calling to tell the Senator to stand up for trans Americans and vote NO on any bill with that language. This IS worth forcing a shutdown.

[you can stop here at 0:20 if you want to bail out—but it's better if you don't]

This care funding ban follows the map the G-O-P charted while attacking abortion. Democrats lost that fight by giving in to the G-O-P an inch at a time. Giving an inch at a time on trans care will devastate trans Americans and it'll get Democrats nothing in return but contempt.

[you can stop here at 0:40 if you want to bail out—but it's better if you don't]

Right now, the most popular Democrat in the U-S, [Zo-RAHN Mom-DA-nee], is campaigning on making trans healthcare cheaper and easier to access, and he's only got more good will because of it.

[you can stop here at 0:50 if you want to bail out—but it's better if you don't]

I'm asking the Senator to refuse to allow any anti-trans language including a healthcare ban in the F-Y '26 bill. Do not vote for any bill with that language. This IS worth forcing a shutdown. Standing with trans people is the right thing to do and it's politically smart. Voters and donors show up for Democrats who fight.

Here's a T. Rex bored to death trying to bite their own tail. My partner asked me to animate it in stop motion, after she watched a video about the very important topic of "could T. Rex chew its own tail like a dog". The puppet is still a work in progress 🦖

I've been holding my breath waiting for the shutdown to come to an end, the Democrats potentially successfully reduce cuts to healthcare premiums..

And then silently pass all of the anti-trans amendments for healthcare anyway. REALLY hoping I'm wrong, but a good track record is sorely lacking..

Aftonbladet's interview with Greta Thunberg is now available in English - it raises many serious questions, not least about the Swedish govt. effectively abandoning its citizens to torture because it doesn't agree with their politics. A thundering disgrace.

I naively thought we had good insurance (that we also pay a fortune for) until we needed mental health care at which point we realized that a lot of people and programs don’t take insurance at all. Tens of thousands of dollars and a second mortgage later I’m too aware of how awful the system is.

"Medical gaslighting as a service" is not a use case I anticipated! Doctors seem to enjoy that part of the job so much, why would they outsource it to an app?

Pain does not work like this.

Nothing works like this. There's a reason lie detectors are inadmissible bullshit machines.

But even if it did, those thermometers mentioned in the first sentence? They don't work properly on Black skin. Same with pulse oximeters: they don't work on melanin, either.

It pisses me off to no end that Long Covid affects hundreds of millions of people globally and no one I know can name a Long Covid expert or any of the leading labs looking into it. It’s simply not a topic people want to pay any attention to, and I consider that living in fear, or at least denial.

There is no quicker way to make people uncomfortable and to not want to talk to you than to share the latest findings of what Covid does in our bodies.

Almost no one I know has done a rational assessment of the threat environment since 2021 when we were told to vax and relax into Delta and Omicron.

The average person is not informed that Covid is not confined to the respiratory system and infects blood vessels, immune cells, and the brain.

We rolled the dice and have exposed everyone to SARS2 repeatedly, and the idea that this has been determined safe through rigorous study is patently false.

To say people make a rational assessment of the threat environment around Covid… is just not true.

Most people refuse to talk about or read anything about Covid.

Long Covid has surpassed asthma as the most common childhood illness, and it’s rarely spoken of.

I think the biggest problem is also the lack of understanding of asymptomatic infection. And it's likely because a lot of other infections do have a pretty quick symptom onset. One of my relatives had covid recently and "just had a stuffy nose for a few days" but at least tested/isolated. Most don't

It's also backward, because the COMPANY is SAVING MONEY by allowing someone to work from home.

By letting everyone stay remote, my husband's employer dropped the lease on two whole office buildings! And that was just where we live. The NYC real estate they've let go is even more savings!

Companies have decided to pay people less who work remotely, even if they have more expertise and/or provide more value to a company than certain people who go into the office.

Guess who needs remote jobs more? Marginalized groups! especially disabled people! What a coincidence! 🫠
