I know nothing of climate change. But its complexity is fascinating. And how should we, our societies, live within biophysical planetary boundaries? *322ppm

Irre.

A reminder:

In 1836 a young English Parliamentary reporter working in London grew frustrated with the depressing publishing opportunities facing him, and the general state of being a writer in those days, and decided to break the “rules”...

Finally, here's a use for old & damaged books that's, um, a bit unsettling?

"The (2.5m) novels were pulped at a recycling firm in south Wales & used in the preparation of the top layer of the West Midlands motorway, according to building materials suppliers Tarmac."

It's worth checking out Geoffrey Hinton on @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social explining from the ground up to Jon Stewart how neural networks (and AI) work if you want to have a very clear and systematic look under the hood from the person who came up with some of it.

Ha! Actual 2-year lag from global CO2 emission to global temperature reaction. Not really 10📝
Also, aerosol warming factors into the overall CO2 budgeting for a x°C. Not being overlooked📝

But.
Growth± of °C and CO2ppm are also in sync where ppm is a feedback of °C. Outside the tropics 30-60°N too!
robinlamboll.bsky.social
The warming of recent emissions is explicitly included in the budget calculation, as is our best estimate of future aerosol warming.
The time delay between emissions and peak warming is around a decade, but most of the warming is felt much quicker, ~2 years.

Gee, very good drama dynamics too. Better than Karen.
Only I can't get the equalizer to make Serena's consonants, t, p, s, f reach my impaired hearing nerve. Serena sounds warbled, as if recorded under water in a bath tub and slurring words w/o pause.
With Karen's pronounciation I get every word.

Until 1C global heating, Syria used to be able to feed their population without importing essentials.
But countries like UK or Egypt, who can't supply citizens with enough homegrown essentials, must tackle a structural problem that'll kick asses time and again, more often now with climate change.

Warum also so viele Autos?

Worst drought in 36years, the article says. Odd because I KNOW that IPCC SR15 has a text box in capter 3 putting the drought from 20years ago as "worst in 800years".
So is the 2025 drought in Syria is worse than 2008 or not? Different yardsticks for drought? Who made the claim, Syrian govnmnt, FAO?

The insurance industry itself also has to adapt but it's not mentioned in this piece. Maybe, insurers in UK work different to Germans and don't only reimburse 1:1 replacements? Example: Flooded oil heating >> Insurer pays only for a new oil burner, not for a heatpump. >> insurer worsens flooding.

The only sane take on the fake-Nobel I've seen.
Especially like how you omitted the deliberately misleading word Nobel and replaced it with a nuclear explosion.

Only wish you had added meaningful ALTtxt to your picture. It's the humane thing to do. If only to spite the rising fascists. 🖖
