Why is a Cavalry Squadron of National Guard Soldiers even in Syria? Guarding al-Tanf seems to, maybe, make a little sense, but walking on foot, far away from garrison with local nationals does not.

This Iowa National Guard squadron (1-113 Cavalry, 34th ID) first deployed soldiers to Iraq more than 20 years ago, in 2005. This tour it’s been at al-Tanf Garrison in Syria. The youngest soldiers in the squadron probably hadn’t been born yet during C Troop’s 2005-6 Iraq deployment.

The FSA in Al-Tanf in Syria, some of them, are very dangerous guys, I will never understand why USA decided to work with them when they could've picked SDF or YPG.

The closest US base would be either the Tanf garrison or Jordan. That is pretty far outside the wire to be going for a daytime ground patrol even with coordination with Damascus.

Again you’re spot on as usual with your research. Most U.S. welfare recipients are children (39%), elderly/disabled (~30%), or working adults. Programs like TANF & SNAP for able-bodied adults have strict work requirements, time limits, job search rules, & eligibility checks.

They were supposedly born in 1961 & off the top of my head, Democrats passed the CRA of 1964, VRA of 1965, ADA, ACA, Violence Against Women Act, several gun safety laws, the Respect for Marriage Act, created Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, & legalized recreational marijuana at the state level.

TANF is a block grant that is cash where states get to decide who gets it and many states suck at that and divert money elsewhere to people like Brett Favre. SNAP is inferior to cash. It can't even be used on all food and hits recipients with a 30% marginal tax rate. WIC is worse than SNAP.

I'm a friend of Yang's and such things were in fact considered. His UBI was proposed to explicitly be additional to all programs except for 4: TANF, SNAP, WIC, and SSI. The point of that was meant as no-harm so that no one was worse off. Medicaid for example would not have been impacted in any way.
