Today's walk started at Strathcona Park in Sandy Hill, and covered many east end neighborhoods including Lowertown, New Edinburgh, Manor Park, St Laurent Boulevard and Vanier.

To clarify:
Right now we have sidewalk, then parking lane, then two driving/truck lanes.
Strathcona + BRT plan is to remove a parking lane, and a truck lane. So the new plan would be patio lane, sidewalk lane, one driving/truck lane, one BRT lane, no traffic study, probably gridlock the south side.

I'm sure some people might like this for the aesthetics or their own reasons, but Whyte is a major transportation and trucking route. Every bridge leaving downtown and Strathcona highways dumps cars into the Whyte ave area. There are often no alternative routes. We might gridlock the city for patios

The "Old Strathcona Public Realm Strategy" includes a plan to remove parking and widen the sidewalks so that they can accommodate patio space.
The BRT plan involves taking two lanes and truning them into BRT ROW lanes.
When you take three lanes and remove two lanes you get one lane.

The other issue is that further north the neighbourhoods are less trendy, and there are no real anchors. Ritchie and Old Strathcona and the U provide good anchors for 82. Although Wihkwentowin has good density, there is no large people draw into the area.
