Don't be fooled. Bill 13 (the Jordan Peterson law) isn’t about free speech or even off-duty conduct of professionals.

Let’s go Alberta! I know it’s a busy time of year but it’s now or never. The next provincial election isn’t until October 2027. We need to make our voices heard through petitions. If you aren’t in Medicine Hat here’s the website to find a signing location:

It should be obvious to all Albertans now Smith has attacked judges, and by doing so the law, that she doesn't believe in democracy
Democracy requires that we all must abide by the laws of the land
Smith wants to elevate herself to be above the law
She wants to be the only gatekeeper

Folks if you aren’t following @jaredwesley.ca please do so! He’s shining the spotlight on the utter nonsense of the UCP and the direction Smith is steering our province. I also recommend signing up for his substack, it’s highly informative.
Years ago, I warned that Danielle Smith would run out of enemies in political realm and turn her sights on the courts.

Her latest attacks aren't some high-minded philosophical critique of judicial supremacy.

They're pure populist pablum, specially crafted to remove yet another check on her power.

People often ask: what can ordinary people do to stop populists like Trump and Smith from running roughshod over democratic norms?

Populists rely on the widespread perception that their actions are supported by "the majority" and "common people."

Anything that punctures that myth helps. +

I tallied the number of court cases or legal challenges Alberta’s government has recently stepped in to block or pre-empt. Was surprised how long the exercise took - they’re at like a one-per-week clip:
