Also just feeding the war machine, blame it all on The Bad Man™, just endless demonization of those who are peer competitors to the empire, the Wolfowitz Doctrine is so engrained in these exceptionalists

Agree. The the rich to pay for increased equality, NHS, increased defense & renationalization of the water companies.
Perhaps you agree with the oligarch-dominated-media-reform is needed?

TG writes its hard to debate EU in UK with current media.
Currently, the media is not working as they should in a democracy. That is because they are not free nor plural, but ownership is dominated by billionaire oligarchs, incl Rupert Murdoch.
UK should reform media ownership, to make them work.

364. It's already happening gradually, but, renationalization of rail service in the UK, and arresting the creeping privatization happening here. I just saw a Flixtrain schedule at Ostbahnhof of a few trains per day to Köln and a handful of other destinations, none even resembling a Takt.

They’re not entirely extricable though as the most notable (and popular, I think) parts of the government’s policy agenda going into the election (rail renationalization & bus reform, Great British Energy & renewables) both spearheaded by soft Left figures, and sit oddly with eg Streeting NHS plans

Brightline and Hyperloop serve only one purpose.

Postpone the inevitable renationalization of American railroads.

This is an important piece that reminds us that the large transportation companies in #Canada are poorly managed & run. We need to see real change, fair treatment of workers & - at least with rail - a renationalization that allows for better management in the public interest. #cdnpoli

And if we renationalize, who pays? Even Fergal Sharkey doesn’t suggest renationalization. He suggests making the buggers pay because even if we took it from them and didn’t give them any money which isn’t gonna happen it would cost us billions to repair it.

"renationalization of utilities" jesus christ
England is the only nation in the world to have water and sewerage turned into private monopolies. There is no market, "Customers" are in reality hostages. After wrecking the environment, driving poverty, price gauging and demanding billions in public subsidy the entire con is about to collapse.
A good move. Don’t hang around.

What Keith is doing, economically, is not at all consistently centrist; the right-wing press hates him over closing tax loopholes on the rich, taxing public school tuition, etc., and he's delivering on the Corbynite promise of rail renationalization. In contrast with these, he governs as full TERF.

UK set to nationalize train operators from May
Piccadilly line trains sit in their depot in London, August 19, 2022. FRANK AUGSTEIN / AP Britain's Labour government will carry out the first renationalization of a private train operator in May, transport minister Heidi Alexander announced on Wednesday, December 4. Returning all the country's rail operators into public ownership is among the key policies Prime Minister Keir Starmer launched since his party's election five months ago. Train passengers in Britain suffer from frequent cancelations of their journeys in addition to high ticket prices. 'For too long, the British public has had to put up with rail services that simply

like there should be no reason axel kiciloff should be anywhere near power or having a chance to win in 2027 after costing the country 6b for his braindead renationalization of ypf, potentially locking argentina out of international markets. but here we are post elections with a good chance

Should've never privatized Air Canada to begin with.

Renationalization now.

Very insightful update on the EU Commission’s new structural funds proposal. There already has been quite some renationalization in previous funding rounds, but the outright move away from regional funding would be quite a change to our understanding of EU governance.
It seems that the Commission will indeed propose one big fund to cover all existing structural funds and the CAP and to organise the payout from this fund via a single national plan That would mean a huge departure from how the EU budget and the MFF negotiations have worked so far.

Here is why:

Some of it hasn't kicked in yet, BUT I cannot see this Tory Party enacting the workers' rights bill, or renters' rights, or renationalization of the railways and National Grid, or green energy building. Raising the minimum wage.

If anything, Badenoch wants to do the opposite.

first weekend in October seems aggressive for renationalization tbh, but I'm really stuck on not being able to plan this one day, the rest of the trip hinges on it

You're not the only person today who seems determined to make out that i've suggested renationalization is a magical fix.

I've written plenty here, and elsewhere, about how anyone who thinks that is as deluded as anyone who think the private sector is magically more efficient.

Dems really need to designate some minor MoC to be the firebrand, to do the sort-of-but-not-really off-piste stuff like threatening prospective buyers with future renationalization and possible criminal liability
