As a fellow interpreter, I'm remembering a time when I was on the mic & a speaker dropped a swear & then pointed at the booth & said, "TRANSLATE EXACTLY WHAT I JUST SAID" -- at which point a bunch of people slammed their headphones on to hear how I would render that colorful expression.

Took my DJ setup out of storage, dusted it off, and crammed it in a small closet. Just like old days (I attached a photo of my very first setup to demonstrate).

It's been ages since I've mixed tunes even semi-regularly. I guess it's time to knock off the rust.
A 16-year-old cell phone photo of my very first DJ setup. One of many to come. It consists of two Technics SL-1200mk2 turntables and a Numark DM3001x mixer. The mixer sits on top of an old Sony stereo receiver that was purchased at a rummage sale for $5, powering two little Teac bookshelf speakers. The whole setup sits on top of an old wooden dresser, shoved in a closet and sandwiched between clothes that I had hung up. Above it, a cheap desk lamp clamped the shelf above (the shelf is out of frame) provides poor lighting for all the gear. A small note: The turntables are placed "battle style", meaning each one is rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise. At no point did I ever have room to place them in their standard orientation. My current DJ setup (which I've had for five years now). As mentioned, it is crammed into a closet. This time, however, they are multiple LED lights providing ample illumination for the entire rig. The setup consists of a Pioneer DDJ-1000 controller, connected to a laptop PC running rekordbox 7. There are black DJ headphones sitting on the mixer section of the controller, they are AIAIAI TMA-1s. The entire thing sits in a Gator flight case, which has a shelf for the laptop. The flight case is held up by a rugged keyboard stand. To the left of the laptop, also on the shelf, is a Samson Q2U microphone, which is plugged in to the Mic In on the controller. Above all of this, on a shelf, are two Behringer 2031A powered speaker monitors. Each is on its side, with tweeters on the outside and woofers on the inside. Between them is an original Xbox, and on top of the Xbox in the headphone case for the AIAIAIs. Surrounding the flight case are a couple guitars and a mic stand, both stashed in the gaps between the flight case and the closet walls.

I'm going to make an observation and this is my POV only. Why is it that Hakeem Jeffries only comes to the mic and makes a big deal out of something after there's been a lot of criticism of him on social media? I hear some of the Democrats in the House aren't so keen on him being speaker right now.

My ass is staying home because I went to the last one and they gave the mic to a ProHamas speaker who immediately denigrated Jews. It wasn’t about No Kings, as intended. It became something else at that point, and I left. I’m not walking with folks like that.

Years ago I saw a presentation where the speaker said that when porn appears in a new medium, that's like a mic check, basically just verifying that the medium works. It's not until more mainstream stuff appears (his example—for the internet—was cat photos) that the medium can be declared viable.

The Sharp Rateca Puter. Face, left to right: A 4.5 inch CRT (behind a plastic guard), VHF/UHF and radio dials, channel and band selectors (TV/COMP, FM, Shortwave, and Middlewave), the "RATECA PUTER' logo on the battery gauge, AFC switch, mode selector, tape deck controls, audio controls for balance, bass, treble, and volume, and a mollyguard to prevent dials and switches from being mashed (the mollyguard being a signature of Sharp's boomboxes of the time). Face, low: the collapsable carrying handle that doubles as a stand; computer power button; slide-out chiclet keyboard based on Sharp calculators of the day, with number pad; an LED clock, clock controls, alarm controls. Istg, eveytime someone has VC on in Marvel Rivals playstation only, it's because they forgit to turn off their mic. All I hear is an echo of their speaker so I just have to listen to Galacta repeat the same thing for a 2nd time.

I think I’ve posted about this before but the nice thing about being friends with other vtubers is good mic qualities. I take it for granted that I can actually understand my friends’ words until I play dnd with my friends that use headphone and phone speaker mics that cut out every 3 words
