I do miss the laserdiscs. You’d get the art level of a vinyl with video and much more reliable than the VHS

Having survived the brutal Blu-ray vs HD DVD wars of the future it’s wild to go back in time and hear a radio spot for laserdiscs.

No, what really stands out now is just how many people believed that the internet was a passing fad, a technological sideshow destined for the bin alongside Betamax and laserdiscs.

Thanks to a very kind donation I have been given high quality scans of the concept art featured in the Transformers Laserdiscs from Japan. Here's a nice closeup look at the Arcee prototype and the Green prototype G1 Unicron. TFRaw.com

Some new laserdisc pickups for the collection. I love Phantom of the Paradise, and Road Warrior is good, but I've never seen the bottom ones before.

Honestly, she could single-handedly revive LaserDiscs if she wanted to haha

Love em or hate em, they're here to stay: laserdiscs, crt screens, beta tapes, gas street lamps, floppy disks, palm pilots, c-band satellite, rotary phones, radiators, mercury fillings, manual typewriters, carbon paper, the juicero, the segway, the Sega channel, bbs systems, telegrams, dialup inter-

I sneezed. My throat feels like sandpaper. I might about to die. No one touch my Laserdiscs.

And yes, I'm leaving the typo. Something to remember me by.

I'll be putting more records, and laserdiscs up for auction on eBay today. I need to clear some of this shit out. If you are interested in LDs, I got a lot of Disney, animation, and anime going up, as well as some WB box sets, and concerts.

There's something to be said for how shiny-good CDs look(ed).

Hell, I have Laserdiscs on display in the next room because they still look so... futuristic to me?

I have this sort of coffee table book from between Star Wars and Empire that's a folder that holds calendar size reproductions of his sketches. It's in good shape still. That and the giant box set of the original trilogy laserdiscs are among my most prized possessions.

I cut school my senior year to go looking for laserdiscs. I only had enough $$ to buy one. I picked WHEN HARRY MET SALLY…

oh neat, i didn't realize laserdiscs used it too (wiki to the rescue)

J'arrive un peu après la bataille, mais concernant les bonus, on en trouvait sur certains Laserdiscs au début des années 90, notamment pour les films de James Cameron qui incluaient des making of.
Pour le reste, bonne continuation à vous !

I'd forgotten quite how many LaserDiscs I have.

Been trying to rip CAV laserdiscs that encode “picture stop” frames to automatically pause the disc (to display a menu or still images or whatever). It’s annoying because some of the weirder discs I’d like to preserve pause a lot, which makes them awkward to record straight through.

They were great
If I already had laserdiscs I absolutely would have bought one.

My 1st DVD player cost £800, but it could also play LaserDiscs which I still owned.

An absolute beast, even for today. Not even your computer can play laserdiscs.

At a certain point, I wondered if the claim of "companies actually pay attention to piracy" had any merit to it, but then I remember how much bootleg DVDs of the Star Wars trilogy pervaded early DVD circulation, transferred from Laserdiscs.

Then Lucasfilm did it themselves in 2006 to combat this

My house is full of $10-$15 laserdiscs like this.

Incredible. Bought the tape earlier, realized I already had it on DVD, and I swear, seeing them next to each other made me wish I had a LaserDisc copy. I can't rationalize collecting LaserDiscs though, until I find some cool ones for cheap and decide they're the best
