I’m in the stage of grief where one criticizes the winning team’s generally bad city planning. #WorldSeries

Mamdani won't say whether he plans to live in Gracie Mansion as mayor: "I don’t yet have an answer on where I’m going to be living, but I can tell you where I'm going to be working and that’s City Hall."

He has previously alluded to planning to move into Gracie if elected.

Folks, what terms would you use to translate the French "hypercentre," which is used in planning jargon, to refer to the very core of the city center?

Would "inner city core" or "inner core of the city center" work?

I don't get what "services economy" has to do with it. A city-owned grocery store can't cause shortages because there will be private competitors. If they banned all non-city stores then yeah you could easily see bad planning decisions and poor incentives spiral into breadlines like happened in USSR

“For years, facilities were designed around men’s schedules and men’s teams. Women were told to make do. And now, just as women’s hockey has earned the right to think bigger, the city is planning to think smaller.”

Lansdowne 2.0 is a bad deal for Ottawa on so many fronts.
Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t give Ottawa what it needs. The plan is built around the limits of a public-private deal that leaves the city with hundreds of millions in new debt for a project that won’t serve residents well.
As women's hockey climbs to new heights, the City of Ottawa says think smaller | Opinion
PWHL executives Jayna Hefford and Amy Scheer write that it's not too late to change the story on Lansdowne 2.0.

People who are deep into city planning games should not be taken seriously when talking about infrastructure, urban planning, energy, or public transport.

They have a completely warped view of how these things work that’s learned from abstract game mechanics that don’t translate to reality at all.

Whelp. Back to planning how I’d redesign the city of Ottawa to make it a nicer capital city and less of a provincial backwater with no redeeming qualities.

From my 5 day trip to Athens, Greece. It ended too quickly. And it was after 5.5 years of not traveling aboard. Now I'm planning another trip to the same city. I loved the vibe of the Athens streets.

Unfair. You’re assuming there was actual planning in LA. There were just lots of midwestern style small towns that metastasised near a city called LA. :)

What do you think is most important for Lansdowne?

We joined the Lansdowne 2.0 Public Forum. The conversation touched on community priorities, green space, arena use, & city planning, giving residents the chance to share.

It was a great reminder that shaping our city takes community voices.

Good fucking morning to everyone—except Kristi Noem and her ice thugs, who were planning to raid the city of Chicago tonight during Halloween. For God’s sake, can we just let these kids dress up, get some candy, and have a night where they don’t have to worry about this shit?

Planning commission approved the site plan and conditional use permit on a 4-3 vote. Considering a lawyer showed up saying he represents the neighborhood, wouldn't be surprised if this is appealed to the city council.

I've spent *years* planning & writing a novel about a young charismatic newcomer who runs for office in a huge city against a crusty elite because basic human decency is escapism in today's reality

I'd like to thank Zohran for coming along and stealing my entire story I guess 🥲
A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.

It was a little different last week.
