However, there are oddities in Linux. For example, Numlock isn't on by default, so you have to manually turn it on. But you can get it to turn on for the lock screen when you boot up, so I keep forgetting to do that when I try to log in.

Numlock is short for numb lock, it's intended to keep us numb to what's going on in the world, naturally. Big brother insisted it be on every keyboard, and default to on, to give the illusion of free choice, but we're all too numb to change it.

I'd recommend against NumLock, because it's a rare enough one it's sometimes more easily flagged.
I'd strongly advise using a randomized sleep pattern.
And I'd strongly advise any org to consider the wisdom of actually tracking this.

I use a crappy no-name brand wireless one for like 10$ off amazon from years ago. I gotta say it works pretty dang well and only needed to swap the battery like once in the years I've had it. I have the numlock key removed intentionally cause I kept tapping it accidentally lol.
