I think it’s a great pair with Frankenstein

And it’s unreliable narrators, entrenched in gender politics, would make for great additional convo imo

The Calm App is one of my reasons for living

Anyway, one of my favorite narrators has a collection of Poe stories, and one time I did a 3 hour long playlist that included that story, but woke up to whispers of “louder, louder, louder” from the end of The Tell-Tale Heart and now I have a real fear

you have to get through all the unreliable narratorship of culture, analysis, and the humanities in general to get at what unreliable narrators really are about. it's deep and crucial wisdom.

Part I of the novel explores reasons why the English language hasn’t changed much in recent decades (and into the future). Given how poor the book is, I wonder if that was McEwan’s attempt to cover himself against the change that both narrators - separated by over 100 years - sound just like him

They also found him to be a socialist. Conservatives are very unreliable narrators.

Hear, hear! And thanks, @ghostpit.bsky.social, for opening #GhostPit up to those of us whose manuscripts don’t quite have as many monsters or ghosts as our narrators might think. 😉

In a world full of amazing audiobook narrators, nobody does it like Marc Thompson. The X-Wing audiobooks are incredibly well done.

My dream audiobook narrators are
Alan Rickman (I know I know, dead) and Amy Adams.

18. What POV to write in - since I’m usually starting from one scene in my head this scene’s POV is already determined, then if the fic is getting longer I decide if I want to show the other perspective. I like writing unreliable narrators though and don’t really know how to do omniscient POV.

I want to do a worldwide survery to find out who actually sees an ad for AI porn and thinks to themselves it's gooning time 🍆 Between the narrators attempt at sounding sultry and the animated blow up dolls flailing around the whole thing has me in stitches 💀

3/x:

a) trans people are not reliable narrators of their own experience

b) only a cis person can say whether another person is actually trans

c) almost no one is actually trans, but a measurable % of people think they are trans

Do you find child narrators–their perceptiveness as well as their misprisions, their loyalties, their prejudices–endlessly absorbing?

Read on for Adela Pinch’s recommendation of her favorite child narrator:

"The Annual Migration of Clouds" and "These Lifeless Things" by Premee Mohamed

i really liked both! i especially like how the author has the narrators only recount the incomplete picture. there are many questions we as readers don't get an answer to at all, but i really enjoyed that about both

Adam and Abel’s relationship is likely incredibly complicated. That and the fact that Viv loves unreliable narrators makes me wonder how much Adam actually disliked Abel according to Lute

The Calm app has this soundscape that hits my exact brainwaves.

I have HORRIBLE insomnia so I like some of the narrators they use for sleep stories. I often fall asleep in the middle of them.

If I can’t I’ll put on another. Erik Braa or Alan Sklar can usually narrate me to sleep…

They've done a really good job adjusting to Liam as Geralt in the show, using the idea and theme of how stories are told through different perspectives and narrators. As clean a transition as you could ask for, considering #TheWitcher

It’s always super impressive to me when narrators do dialogue for characters of other genders without really modulating their pitch, and are simply good enough that it doesn’t matter.

To this point I’ve paid all my publishing vendors a flat rate except the two narrators for my audio books. ACX has a royalty share option they administer for that service. But I don’t have contributors to the writing, so may not be answering your question full scope.

The New Yorker keeps switching between AI and human narrators for its audio articles – it's striking how much more comfortable and comprehensible the humans are.

AI narrators are useful when there's no alternative, but these pieces must get tens of thousands of listeners... just pay for a human!
