If NYC had the proportional amount of unsheltered people we do living outdoors and Zohran campaigned against sweeps he would not ahead in the polls. NYC has astronomical rent and that is the main reason he is ahead, due to his rent freeze proposal etc, which makes sense. Portland is affordable.

Not a whole lot of people think that car deaths and gun deaths are the same thing, since guns are made to kill and cars are made to transport. Outer east portland is a mess of unsafe roads, people on substances darting into traffic on kids' bikes or on foot, very unsafe "bike lanes" and bad driving
Oh for sure I will give you celebrity & charisma and yes I think it is unhealthy. Still, I would not compare these folks to true cults of personality where the only thing that killed their worship was death of the personality
yeah I think he's always had a bit of a sleazy side. I just cannot stomach the lefty purity stuff. I will take Newsom over Trump 100x over even if he's made these mistakes. Its a very difficult mileu to operate in with trump dominating everything and the Dems without solid direction
