"And there’s ornamental grounds, and lovely shady nooks,
Which is a great advantage to visitors while reading their books;
And there’s a certain place known as the Ladies’ Beach,
So private that no intruder can them reach."

2/2 tower have capitals with human vignettes of "French look", Pevsner: The Buildings of England, revised edition: Sussex: West 1965, revised 2019 (Williamson, Hudson, Musson and Nairn). My Dad, an architect, impressed upon me the importance of Pevsner to understanding Sussex buildings!

Google Ngram does show a general increase in the use of "UK" after 1950, and a concurrent fall in references to "Great Britain". I remember Scottish nationalist Tom Nairn coining the term "Ukania" in the 70s as a derisive name for the British state.

"Then there’s the ancient stronghold of the Bays of Lochloy,
And visitors when they see it will it heartily enjoy;
And a little further on there’s the blasted heath of Macbeth,
And a hillock where the witches are wont to dance till out of breath."
