If you build it they will come. OK, I didn’t so much build this bee hotel as buy it from John Lewis and stuck it up on a post near our Sunflowers, Cosmos and other insect-friendly flowers and waited … Today my patience was rewarded.
Last week I thought I had posted my last #SixOnSaturday for the year before I dipped into the archive for old photos from warmer days in the garden but here is (another) last hurrah. We have had frosts and deluge this week and there isn’t much left but here it is. #Gardening *details in alt text

Labour’s Budget: another cruel and devastating attack on disabled people
By Linda Burnip Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) are issuing an urgent warning to all disabled people, their families, and carers following the announcement of Labour’s latest attacks against us in the Autumn Budget proposals. We condemn this Budget as a brutal and cynical attack that prioritises cost-cutting over the lives and well-being of disabled people . The Government claims these changes will help people into work and ‘rebalance’ the welfare system.

This last few days I have been planting the tulips that flower in Spring to bring hope to our house. Their warming glow is the official symbol of Parkinson’s. Pictures like this help in the cold months ahead.

We took a small trip across the border into Kent to do a quick supermarket shop this afternoon and coming home through the country lanes as the sky cleared and the sun was setting after a day of constant rain I had to stop and get out of the car to gawp at this.

It is so very wet today but I braved the rain to use my new macro lens on the moss growing on our Acer Griseum tree. I shall count this for #AlphabetChsllenge #WeekVforVowels and #ColorADay #GreenSat #MacroPhotography #EastCoastKin

He may be a #HolidayRobin but he seems to have found something else while ferreting around our front garden this week. Can those be Daffodils pushing through the soil by our little friend. Maybe Spring is around the corner.

"The trouble started when American MPs arrived and tried to force U.S. segregation rules inside the British pub. They attempted to remove & arrest the Black soldiers, which shocked the locals. People in the pub openly stood by the Black troops, telling the MPs that everyone there was welcome."

A frosted leaf in our garden, where temperatures have fluctuated from minus zero to plus 13°C this week with bright sun followed by days of rain. English weather is odd. Nature is uplifting.

You have to look quite carefully to see the two tiny subjects of this photo, hovering above a branch of our fig tree earlier this month. Two insects that are long gone by now.

FINAL REVEAL: A brand new Benin bronze plaque, titled "Looting of the Oba's Palace in 1897".

This #newarrival confronts the theft of works from Benin in 1897. It shows what the palace altar looked like before 1897 (left), and British soldiers in the act of looting (right).

Our favourite English Oak tree in the middle of a meadow only a few yards from our home. This picture was taken in summer when it was in full leaf, providing shade for three horses. Now it is almost bare.

For #NationalTteeWeek something a little different. When I say little, I mean small. We bought these coasters years ago from a wood turning shop, in Wales, I think, but memory plays tricks. Beech and Alder on an Oak table. I just wish I could recall the artist.

Municipal trees lead a sad sort of life - branches over-pruned, roots constrained by concrete, the iron guards used as handy rubbish bins and, lest we forget, peed on endlessly by passing dogs. Still, nothing says
