#Manichaean
Tony Soprano as a character is Manichaean-coded, so you might want to tone down the loathing.

I cannot believe I am giving Douthat credit here, but he does ask the extremely basic question about the contradiction that makes this entire line of argument nonsensical.

OMG this person doesn't have a single reasonable opinion, every issue in the universe is Manichaean

The 3 great evils are GenAI, COVID, and Israel. A failure to guard against one is a failure against all, and it's infinitely transitive.

It was entertaining for a short while.

The underlying Manichaean (!) worldview remains the same.

THATS NOT WHAT SKEUOMORPHISM IS CAN WE PLEASE STOP
October 28, 2025 at 1:10 AM
It seems like UI design is one long Manichaean battle between #skeuomorphism and flatness, and the skeuomorphs are winning right now? E.g., our butterfly just became a 3d appliqué on Wedgwood jasperware.

Ultimate vindication of the 'everything is gender' thesis that the forces of history pushed American politics into being a Manichaean struggle between brutish anti-modern blood-and-soil reactionary barbarism and the enlightened cooperative feminised professional bureaucrat-technocrat axis

Manichaean women who date incel men expose them to Manichaean culture and economics.

"Miller seems to be attempting to exceed his boss’s Manichaean style by depicting their opponents as the literal embodiment of malevolence."

Channelling the spirit of Joseph Goebbels, Herr Miller is a clear and present threat to the US & modern democracy! 😱🤪😎

Stephen Miller’s Hypocrisy Is Right There in His Speech
In the White House adviser’s view, violent rhetoric is allowed only when he and Trump are the ones spewing it.

5/x: The expectation that despised minorities forgive, but that whites are entitled to Shylock's justice, is a double standard that hurts us, desperately.

Indeed the entitlement to rule and the Manichaean view of race too common among white people have brought us to this fascist moment.

US stop believing in manichaean politics.
The grades of opinions cannot be covered by two parties.
And if there are more options which are electable more people vote, and reduce the danger of populists.

Two titles also coming soon: • Luijendijk & Nongbri, “The Codicology of Early Christian Books from Oxyrhynchus: Insights from a Papyrus Codex of Matthew
(P.Oxy. I 2) and a Miniature Parchment Codex with 6 Ezra (P.Oxy. VII 1010)”. • Benkato & Dilley, “Towards a Comparative Manichaean Manuscriptology”

associate Discord moderators are mercenaries. "associate Discord moderator" is an oppressive class, like Manichaean people or Juggalo people.

You either take a Manichaean view of the world or you don’t.

tbh i cant stand Augustine, i think he should have stayed Manichaean hehe.
but thats my bias against Catholicism and especially "original sin" nonsense. i may like him more than Aquinas at least

ⲅⲣⲁⲫⲁⲩⲉ is also common in the Manichaean texts.

never read him but i remember totally bouncing off of what i read of Augustine, altho i remember liking the Confessions cuz it was very candid (but he shoulda stayed Manichaean hehe)

This is pretty much accurate, you read the later church fathers and see they all really, REALLY like this Paul-style thinking.

Add some Manichaean good-vs-evil-and-we-are-born-evil from Augustine of Hippo and the take-over-the-state machinations of Ambrose of Milan and you've got Christianity.
Many ask why Christians often do things Christ wouldn't do, even calling them hypocrites.

As someone groomed during childhood towards becoming a preacher, I have some opinions.

Let's talk (again) about Paul The Apostle (a re-thread)

38. The reason we might think there were dualist heresies in the 11th-century west is that Adémar of Chabannes called everyone he didn't like a "Manichaean."
