"Abolitionist organizers Kelly Hayes and Miriam Kaba write that inevitability is “a construct of the wicked” (Hayes and Kaba 2023, 5) and “… despair is a thief. It saps your energy, depletes your time, and robs you of your ability to dream” (Hayes and Kaba 2023, 227)." - Disabling Intelligences 5

the whole thread is deeply unhinged, but then you get to the part where she's trying to tag miriame kaba of all people in and it's like, oh, she's completely untethered from reality

Finally got around to grabbing #LetThisRadicalizeYou by @mskellymhayes.bsky.social & @prisonculture.bsky.social. Been looking forward to it, but hadn't got around to buying it until now.😅

Don't let the Kindle fool you. Bought it from @haymarketbooks.org & converted it with #Calibre. 😎👍🏼

One day, at a moment when I felt like all my activist efforts were failing, Mariame Kaba bought one of my original watercolors. I didn't shout about it at the time, but I went back and read her words about the role of artists in social movements, and it's guided me ever since.

Mariame Kaba and Kelly Hayes talk about hope as a discipline—it’s not always easy, it’s not a given, and it’s not about being unrealistic. Having hope is necessary to building the future we want, and sometimes we have to work at having hope so we can build that future.

When Mariame Kaba told us that hope is a discipline, I always understood that to mean "I am hopeful in so far as I do". I have never felt an unfounded optimism, but organizing for 20+ years has showed me that so much more is possible.

Türkiye’ye böyle kaba saba çirkin davranan insanlar yakışmıyor.

Burası Türkiye Cumhuriyeti.

Medeniyetten nasibini almayanların burada yeri yok.
