I'm glad we were able to include a 10th ambulance in the 2026 Operating Budget. Providing excellent public safety services is a priority for the City of Madison.

Even one life lost on our streets is one too many. It’s important to bring attention to traffic fatalities because we as a community can prevent these tragedies. Everyone deserves to travel through and around our City safely, no matter their mode of transportation.

The new men’s shelter at Bartillon Drive is expected to open by 2026. If sufficient funds are raised, it plans on providing twenty-four-hour support and wraparound services to help its residents transition from homelessness.

Police Chief Patterson says in 2025 there have been “significant and impressive reductions” in all of the major crimes tracked by the Madison Police Department. Overall, there’s been a 16 percent reduction in crime, year-to-date, when measured against the three-year average for the same time period.
