There were much better views of Napa Valley #California on my way down into the valley, but I didn’t feel like stopping on a fairly steep twisty road with no shoulders to try to get pictures. So we’ll have to settle for this view from the valley floor.

They are not planning "a violent crackdown" on 10.18. What they are doing is sending a signal to their shock troops to try to cause havoc. But those shock troops will be vastly outnumbered. Go out and protest freely. Do not be cowed.

Hypothetically this could make it easier for people to pirate games. But the reality has turned out that most people want to pay for games & those who won’t will pirate regardless, so GOG’s lack of DRM doesn’t really affect piracy.

No DRM is better for keeping backups that will run any time.

DRM = Digital Rights Management, which basically controls how/where you can run the software. Like how Steam games can’t run unless Steam is also running & (usually) can check you are authorized to run the game. GOG sells games that you can just run any time anywhere without it needing to check.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

Doesn’t the “mute thread” function cover that? Though I don’t know if, for example, you do it on a reply within a thread, whether or not it only mutes from that reply downward or if it also mutes upthread. Regardless, it should mute any interactions with that specific post & any response to it.

I love how good the Switch and Switch 2 (and presumably SteamDeck?) are at this. If it’s an offline game, don’t even have to pause. Many times in Dark Souls if I was at a quiet place, I’d just hit the power button to sleep my Switch, go do some chores, come back, wake up the Switch, and carry on.😎👍🏼

Decolonizing science does not minimalize those who inspire us; it gives more from whom to be inspired.

As a primatologist, Jane Goodall was a huge inspiration to me. I admired the way she describes chimpanzee behavior with such detail and empathy, and she’s inspired so many people and advocated for chimpanzee conservation and welfare.

However, I'm dismayed at what her narrative leaves out (1/10)
