as a kid i got told so many times by white adults that slavery wasn't all bad because it forced christianity on black people, and that allah and the "judean christian god" were different. we do not gotta act like these trickle downers weren't sadistic racists the whole time. we gotta grow up

also: i didn't grow up attending a far right fundamentalist church. i was methodist. mainline protestantism. and yet there were no black people there and i was taught all jews had to go back to israel so christians could be raptured. even the mainstream of american christianity was racist.

the young republicans were always the american hitler youth and you're not gonna convince me otherwise because i grew up around them. i called myself a libertarian until my late teens because republicans were so racist and i didn't know it was okay/not "sinful" to be neither of those things.

like i get it, i grew up in the rural south, went to church multiple times a week, went to public schools where the teachers refused to teach evolution, i know these people believe in nothing but revenge because they made it plain. you do not gotta hand it to the mythical principled conservatives
