That's dope. I was born in 73. I felt like I saw the tail end of its glory years in LA . Grew up with AMAZING local stations like KDAY and KGFJ but my young adult years saw the corporatization that ruined it all. Thank God for Stevie Wonder and KJLH.

I can't take credit. That's what the late great Cliff Winston from KJLH called him on the radio back in the day and now I can't call him anything else. 😂

Here's a flashback photo from an amazing event. I'm here with Chris Malone Director of Programming for KJLH Radio in Los Angeles. Powerful presentations from Reach Media Inc at this Atlanta summit back in 2023. A great convention.

Radio: KJLH, Power 106 (before they sucked), The Beat, and KDAY

TV: Soul Train (KTTV/KTLA), Friday Night Videos (KNBC), Showtime At The Apollo (KNBC), Pump It Up (the Los Angeles equivalent to Video Music Box), BET, and The Box

And from family playing their tapes and records
How did you used to find out about music? Well sometimes you would go to the weird fucked up book section that your record store had for some reason and you would buy a 438 page book with hundreds of entries of artists. And you would choose one that sounded good, and you'd ask the store to order it
