*nods* so, saying “I am queersex” is material
I’m not in disagreement with Butler 🙂
I know that “non-binary gender dysphoria” itself isn’t imaginary, in the same way that Disneyland is a physical location
hyperreality is the idea of Disneyland, not the molecules making up the bricks in Disneyland

was it ironic?
You are responding to me saying sex is non-binary and giving examples of why by talking about how reality is unknowable and non-binary genders are imaginary things that prove binary gender is real
But all gender is hyperreality in post-modernism. Woman is as hyperreal as queersex

This is how I diverge from post-modernism.
I can’t eat hyperreality, but if I need to navigate hyperreality to get food, then that hyperreality has been actualized and is now part of my material conditions
There are burgers at the place with the big M on it. McDonald’s is actualized

or to tie it into the folklore stories & hints dropped in earlier pokemon games, are we actually helping to disentangle Pokemon from its "franchise/brand" in order to be more in line with the intimate implications of its premise, rendering it more real, something outside the capitalist hyperreality

Some of this stuff is getting more into their broader (misreading of) Baudrillard & hyperreality as a whole, like rogue programs being the simulacrum of an artificial person that's indistinguishable from a natural human, to a point.

Baudrillard’s “dead twin” in Cool Memories V poetically captures his later metaphysics of hyperreality. The “dead twin” represents the murdered alterity; the otherness humanity destroyed in order to establish its singular, self-enclosed reality.

The Blurred Truths of Sora
Many will assume that OpenAI’s Sora app represents a new era of social media. But that’s wrong—all it does is reanimate our current one.

Dragon Strike (16%) I find historically interesting because of the mini-movie that was made for it. I suspect others find it interesting because it was a gateway to D&D.
There's a whole (short) chapter on these weird intro games of the '90s!

I'm reading Symbolic Exchange and Death right now.
It's rare I vibe with another philosopher and though I think Baudrilard's framing through the lenses of reality, simulacrum, and hyperreality are a little convoluted and contrived... this work really pulls together and uses them well

Yes. This is a good idea.
We are in the midst of an epistemic crisis. Right now, too many conspiracists, cranks, quacks, and charlatans are in charge, and they're operating from within a hyperreality that cannot safely govern or protect Americans. Their voting base is just as lost or even more so.

Zohran, cancelled after confusing the concept of hyperreality as symbols standing in for an older reality instead of creating their own new, current reality
Zohran Mamdani caught lying that he understood Plato’s allegory of the cave, yet when asked to explain it, he seemed to instead explain Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation where reality has been replaced by symbols and signs, which seems similar to Plato’s theory but is not the same

Idk if this would interest you, but this creator explores Rogan’s construction of a hyperreality within the larger comedy world which now dominates the industry. And I think it has lots of parallels with the hyperrealities created by american conservatives for >50 years

for much of the population, Posts have become a kind of hyperreality, more real than the things they can observe in their daily life, and one thing they've convinced themselves by reading too many Posts is that black people are barely functioning illiterates with zero capacity for skilled labor
I was telling a friend that it's a common belief on current Twitter that many Africans lack the mental capacity to learn to drive.
oddly enough, the same people on Twitter often lack the mental capacity to have sex with another person.

The Grokipedia entry on “race and intelligence” says that sub-Saharan African IQs average “around 70,” and are largely genetic in nature. It also cites Mankind Quarterly, a white nationalist pseudoscience journal.
