I have been saving up a mini embroidery kit (a cactus scene!) as treat. Maybe if I bought a second one I could let myself break into the first one. I have anxiety about losing the promise of entertainment and so I sit here staring at my phone rather than doing the fun thing.

I hear that. And I have trouble reserving energy after my job at the computer for outside activities that allow for that satisfaction of physically making a thing. So mostly I'm a brain in a vat.

I like gardening as a brain-break. But I wouldn't want to work in the fields. And I enjoy sewing. But I wouldn't want to have to produce piece-work day in, day out.
