for much of the population, Posts have become a kind of hyperreality, more real than the things they can observe in their daily life, and one thing they've convinced themselves by reading too many Posts is that black people are barely functioning illiterates with zero capacity for skilled labor
I was telling a friend that it's a common belief on current Twitter that many Africans lack the mental capacity to learn to drive.
oddly enough, the same people on Twitter often lack the mental capacity to have sex with another person.

The Grokipedia entry on “race and intelligence” says that sub-Saharan African IQs average “around 70,” and are largely genetic in nature. It also cites Mankind Quarterly, a white nationalist pseudoscience journal.

What percentage of these ICE/CBP dudes are living out their incel and/or racist and/or InfoWars and/or Qanon hyperreality, etc., power fantasies right now? To them, they're in the endgame and they must be winning against The Libs.
I've no idea, but I'm inclined to suspect it's a non-trivial number.

People are claiming those viral photos of Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino are fake.
They're real. But I found something weird while looking into the claims.

why has my mental health been so good lately. is it because i am no longer solely relying on SSRI's and actually being mindful of my emotions. is it because im not constantly consuming hyperreality content and being grateful for the love and positivity i am given. is it because i drink water

Yes. This is a good idea.
We are in the midst of an epistemic crisis. Right now, too many conspiracists, cranks, quacks, and charlatans are in charge, and they're operating from within a hyperreality that cannot safely govern or protect Americans. Their voting base is just as lost or even more so.

reporters have a pathological urge, not very much unlike that of the gentle kleptomane, to narrativize where there is simply no need for narrative. a fitful awareness that someone had ought to dispense with the nonsense papering ineffectually over the gaping maw of hyperreality
Don't take this quote out of context. The question was specifically about it Trump had additional priorities for redoing parts of the White House grounds.
Think whatever you want about what Trump is doing or not doing.
But understand the context of this quote, not just this selective snippet.

This is a thread from last summer on this particular weekly show broadcast on one of Salem's GOP-aligned AM radio stations. This is what passes for "normal political discourse" amongst many Oregon's Republicans these days. It's approaching Radio Rwanda level hyperreality. bsky.app/profile/seth...
There's a dynamic known as "nutpicking" where a critic picks out unrepresentative voices from a movement or organization in order to associate it with its most extreme elements. That's not what I'm doing. Don Powers & Noncompliant America are "nuts," but they have influence and power in the OR GOP.

—>who live, work, and visit here. Chicago might be troubled by the existence of “Chicago,” but, by and large, it has had only minimal effects on our day-to-day life.
Trumpian hyperreality disturbs this because policy targeting “Chicago” is now actually being carried out in Chicago.

It is notable that these synthetic fake videos of a false hyperreality stay online while the originating videos of a politically-inconvenient actual reality get removed
It’s also interesting that I haven’t heard about these videos being taken down—are they being removed? Because the /actual/ video report that sparked this swell of slop was.

At some point soon reality is going to run headlong into their hyperreality. Don’t think they’ll like the results.

I'm feeling really done with conversations about conversations about the conversation. It's like social media has ejected us into this hyperreality space of associative terms no common ground. Like everyone's trying to go viral being pithy and petty in a reply. I don't want to spend my life on this.

I guess the misconception sits right next to “virtue signaling” on the right wing hyperreality. The right wing somehow succeeded in coding morals and empathy as boujee nepo baby hobbies. Which is ironic bc they’re essentially telling working class ppl they’re too poor to exercise basic morality.

It would be good for all of us if people would stop tormenting the language of oppression and liberation into actually being about their personal, petty grudges. Writing "kill[ing] the cop in your head" in a post where you're policing someone's random, anodyne thought on online discourse is lolz.

"Hyperreality" might be a more fitting term but I haven't read Baudrillard since college. So someone fancier than me will have to render a verdict there
