Upon inquiry, the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) told me today that over the past 3 months, it has delivered a firefighting vehicle, construction machinery, materials for emergency repairs by construction crews, and additional power generators to support #Ukraine during the winter.

“AI is wasting more time than it saves. In other words this AI has reduces productivity not increases it”

And this company got rid of a shedload of staff in anticipation of all the time it was going to save. So the ones left are firefighting AI errors.

Wildfires are becoming too big a threat for any single homeowner, neighborhood, or even firefighting squad to just play defense. The fight is now collective and starts from the ground up, when homes are built.

Musk knows jack shit about firefighting.
I Led the FDNY. Don’t Believe Elon Musk’s Nonsense About It.
Musk’s attack on the new FDNY commissioner proves he knows nothing about how modern fire departments work.

These are totally unsupported claims with no links, citations or even statements like “sources familiar with the matter.” I read basically every single story about AI efficacy at big companies, especially salesforce. These are either made up or egregious extrapolations of things.

Was Heitinga brought in specifically for his firefighting? In 2023 he inherited a severely broken Ajax. He simplified tactics, restored morale, and won 7/7 starts. His interim record: 14W-3D-5L, reaching a cup final. Kudus loved him (see below). Seems strong as an interim. Poor long term, tho.

We should be discussing distributing local police funding to more effective areas: firefighting, emergency medical responders, trauma-informed social workers, mental health professionals, employment drives, job training, food banks, childcare, etc. Things that actually protect the community.

CAL FIRE is more than firefighting.
While firefighters are often the most visible, the department relies on thousands of professionals in many other roles to carry out its mission of public safety and natural resource protection

One of the core rules of doing what I do is that if something confirms my bias in check it harder. His single citation for these claims is a dodgy website which looks like it’s using AI generated copy

Notable that Milei cut wildfire prevention and firefighting funds.

ai must be viewed exclusively through the lens of class struggle. "firefighting" here just means more work for fewer people, the excuse is irrelevant

Anyone remember that paper by a bunch of computational social scientists working for Microsoft (lol) that proclaimed happily that a wide range of professions would find that gAI would be "applicable" to their professions, and it included everything from historian to customer service staff?
Anyway.

You know she had a public career prior to being VP, right?

She intentionally kept paroled prisoners locked up so that the state of California could use them as slave laborers in their firefighting units

She’s a fucking awful person and always has been

And if this is true for whistles, just think how much more true it is for ambulances, fire alarms, tsunami warning klaxons, and firetrucks with their sirens! 🤪
The fetishization of firefighting is just a larger extension of Karens calling the cops on the cookout!

an entire fire department standing in front of a burning home doing nothing, proudly boasting to a news reporter “this is what firefighting looks like” while the neighbors extinguish the flames
