Completely agree. If someone wants to be a doomsayer, thinking it makes them smart, they should go somewhere else. Recently had a person block and label my reply rude because I called them a closet republican. These defeatist need to STFU.

You get called a doomsayer because the thing you imagine happening is physically impossible due to logistics, size, and man power. Time is also the killer, as such a plan would take up to 10 years to enact and plan out properly. You don't fear the actual danger it seems. Vote count fucking.

Totally, most of the worst mentalist doomsayer wing nuts I know are from my generation. That didn’t come naturally with age. And even if social media was relatively benign and run by boy scouts, leaving something that profitable unregulated would be madness.
My broad view is there is as big, or bigger, issue with older adults and social media as with young people - and that social media bans are just a sticking plaster that allows us to ignore the wider issue.
Ultimately we need proper regulation and enforcement, not bans which allow us to ostrich
