Agreed, blocking says more about the blocker than the blockee. (Antisocial media, maybe?) While a thread is live, it helps the other participants to have the bad faith of one actor called out, though.

oh and by request you can also now delay a block so that the blockee and onlookers have time to see your final volley before the block hits.

Bluesky needs a user control that disallows anyone from putting us on any 'list' without our consent.

I agree that notifying the blockee after they're listed just perpetuates abuse, but... notifying people who were cut off from someone they were following or a mutual because of a third party adding them to a list? that seems worthwhile as an accountability mechanism

I've notice that when something cataclysmic happens, the number of blocks (as both blocker and blockee) goes way up.

Yeah - I don't think that the API has a good way to do this. I think you'd need to actually consume the firehose/Jetstream looking for adds/removes from blocklists (along w/ subscribes) and build an indexed view by blocker/blockee and list, which is definitely not gonna happen in an extension.

Yeah I'd argue to not tell the blockee, but to warn those who are blockING using the list.
That being said there are services that DM you in real-time when you're added to a list of any kind, moderation or not.
I don't subscribe to them because that is a cursed set of knowledge though.

Its the blocking system! Basically, if someone has someone else blocked and they quoted them at any point(or commented under them or vise versa at any point) any mention of the blocked or blockee will be removed with the 'blocked' icon on either of their pages
