That "collision avoided" RAF advert is dramatic and all that, but it's not *great* advertising for the competence of the RAF to have an ending by someone with less understanding of astrodynamics than you get from an afternoon on KSP...

Kerbal Space Program. You'll either give up after your first multi-stage rocket goes into a tumble because aerodynamics is weird, or wind up with 80 different parts mods and textbooks on astrodynamics and rocket design.

rewatching the martian, which is a good movie with some decent scientific content…except for the part where donald glover goes to a supercomputer to check an orbital trajectory (?) and they show this by having his computer display a pop-up that reads “CALCULATIONS CORRECT”

There is now a one-stop-shop to access the statefiles I develop for the #DM32 calculator by #SwissMicros. There's a cool astrodynamics statefile and one that provides HP12c date functions to the calculator a,ready up. Head over to GitHub and check it out! #RPN github.com/jacober-calc...
GitHub - jacober-calc/statefile32: This repository contains organized statefiles (.d32) for the SwissMicros DM32 calculator.

Darkstar Manufacturing / Astrodynamics.

Do you know how many useful (non-unique) magic items I found in over 8 days of playtime on my first Captain? One. And one for Andreja.

Making them craftable like the FO4 mod is the right call. Not sure about the ship part.

Three Chinese astronauts are stuck in their space station for longer than planned after a possible collision with debris. Such space debris is becoming an increasingly serious problem. Jeannette Heiligers (Astrodynamics & Space Missions) is working on a new solution: a large solar sail.

to their credit they talk about the astrodynamics of the 80 satellite constellation they have in mind, but they do it in a way that’s slightly smelly to an expert

like they spend a lot of time musing about the “J2 perturbation” which is roughly as interesting as beige paint to a professional
