My friend was complaining about high anxiety levels and suddenly I became Captain Mindfulness digging out some good guided meditations, telling him about the square breathing technique, suggesting scented candles for an aromatherapy type deal.

I took two 8 week classes via therapy on this stuff.

We often don't talk about our woes as much as we'd like. Be it due to anxiety, indifference/assumptions of others, our general attitude, and many other reasons.

What I'm saying is that it's easy to assume that folks are alright when they keep to themselves. Mindfulness is important. 💜

Systematic review on Maths anxiety show what most teachers already know: being better at a thing makes you less anxious about the thing.
Forget about breathing exercises or mindfulness; confidence follows accuracy, not the other way round.

#naturism offers a rare space where masks drop & anxiety eases. Freed from clothing’s symbolism of status or insecurity, people rediscover comfort in their own skin. Walking barefoot through sand or water, feeling the breeze across every inch, the mind quiets […]

Mindfulness can help people manage anxiety, it can be helpful. But there is also good anxiety and bad anxiety. People do not get taught the difference, which should be a key part of your emotional education growing up. Anxiety is a short-term normal, useful, response to real threats and challenges

Mindfulness may take the edge off the 'bad anxiety' but you need to use the 'good anxiety' to make your life better.

It also isn't a great approach:
"I searched for tools focused on meditation and mindfulness to help me take full control of my emotions."
"Headspace taught me that those fears were pointless: No one controls anything in this world."
"now my body and I fight together against our enemy, anxiety"

Is there any reason, right now, why you can't close your eyes, feel the ground beneath your feet and then pay attention to your breathing? Such micro-moments of mindfulness can be profoundly powerful. #deepermindfulness #mindfulness #stress #depression #anxiety

It is true: we can never run away from our own thoughts. The geographic solution works when people need to escape weather or regimes. We practice mindfulness to train our minds to reduce stress and anxiety & to improve emotional regulation. Picture a place you love, breathe, train your thoughts.

So, for example, mindfulness meditation exercises give me massive anxiety instead of calming me down.

And I think it's because my brain reacts to my attempts to empty my mind as an assault on it. 😅

In times of stress, it can be helpful to lean into our routines.

Take extra care to pay attention to our senses as we go about the day.

Whether it is taking a morning walk or cooking, practice being present in the moment.

Mindfulness is a way to manage our anxiety 🌱
