“.. the winner in this round of trade talks is clear. China has conceded just enough to appear conciliatory. That has bought Beijing time to focus on .. Taiwan, high-tech advancement, and long-term dominance of the Indo-Pacific.”

I do not know the future, but it doesn't take a genius to understand that the rapid advancement of technology is not an endless process.

James Baldwin parceled out into AI-selected therapeutic memes, stylized via a typewriter interface: the “people-centered” AI future made possible through $500M in philanthropic funding. Without such technological advancement, we’d have no other means of accessing Baldwin quotations!

#Locktober is over.
💥🔓💥
Thus #boypussy returns to being our raison d’être.
A brief reminder, then, that for aesthetic advancement, it is consistency of training rather than size of plug that matters.
And we do like it to be pretty…

ISS is a good example of global cooperation.
It's symbolic in a way that people can work together peacefully for the advancement of science.
Sadly, it's scheduled to come down in the not-too-distant future, but human presence will continue with other stations.
We'll eventually get further out.

Mostly false and doubly so under Truman who desegregated the military which was an avenue to Black advancement ever since, although the current administration is trying to dismantle that path.

And he’s not even a real Christian. He’s an opportunist. Am pretty sure Usha has been Hindu all her life. Shady Vance only recently became a ‘Christian’ for acceptance, approval and advancement.
When the Vice President says he wishes his wife would abandon her religion, that’s not love — it’s control.
Usha Vance doesn’t need to convert for her family to be valid. Because the problem isn’t her faith.
It’s his.

Frankinstein is my favourite book.
Mostly because I relate to the monster and Mary Shelley. Yet I suspect people still don't get the plot. She wrote the monster as Victor and It's on uncontrolled scientific & technological advancement without moral or ethical considerations

This was a painful piece to write. I love horror, but it doesn’t always love me back. I wish I didn’t have to write this, but it keeps happening, often from people who should know better

I have often said "everyone gets exactly one guy and that guy is sacrosanct" isn't a default RPG rule and, perhaps, shouldn't be! The only thing you need to worry about are things like "how many guys are allowed 'on screen' at a time" and "how are we gonna handle advancement". Troupe play is cool.
Troupe style is one of those approaches to RPGs that people resist but I tend to find love when they actually try it.

You may have a secondary character.
You then have a pool of other characters you can grab as needed.

There comes a point where we have to decide whether we should welcome and respect vicious bad faith reactionaries bent on inflaming spite and resentment for their own personal advancement, or whether we prefer a working society. (That point was IMO circa 2011 but now will just have to do instead).

One of the biggest detriments to AI advancement is that fact that companies naively bought into the belief it could be a feasible replacement for actual artists and creatives while not understanding that AI is not really capable of replicating the human quantities essential to art.
one of my frustrations is that very few of the companies building these tools have spent any time or effort trying to explain to consumers what these tools are actually best at accomplishing (and what they're *not* appropriate for) and how to use them effectively.
I'm anti-anti-anti AI I think. It probably could be used in responsible ways for many applications, but it's appropriate that it face stiff headwinds when doing so to keep the people who want to use it honest. The skepticism is healthy.

Amazon is axing 30k corporate jobs. They can say it is because of the advancement of AI, and that may be true in part — but c’mon… nobody has a 10% RIF right before the holidays. Unless of course, they know that hungry people w/o healthcare don’t buy from Bezos.
