Hey, I'm Zombie! Welcome to my page! :)

I'm a big nerd for urbanism and public transit advocacy, which is what I mostly post about. I live in Los Angeles and curate a number of feeds that pick up chatter about the city:
- 🌴Los Angeles Metro Area
- 🚉Urbanism - Los Angeles
- 🧊LA vs. ICE
I fear I’ve been burned before by the KOTOR remake but I can’t deny I wasn’t hyped by the Fate of the Old Republic announcement at the Game Awards.

I want more Star Wars media set in the Old Republic era 😭😭😭

Using #ReigniteLA after the devastating fires, on top of a massive highway interchange the size of a small European city? The jokes write themselves
Just when you thought this campaign couldn't get worse.

If anyone has more information about the creatives behind this abomination, I'd like to speak with them immediately

Jonathan Hale was arrested by LAPD today for painting a crosswalk, even as the city of Los Angeles funnels more money to LAPD and does gymnastics to avoid implementing HLA.

@mayor.lacity.gov, Jonny has made repeated attempts to meet with your office and has been iced out. Angelenos deserve better.

The gondola project to Dodger Stadium is a mediocre public transit project AND the opposition to it is dumb.

The LA Charter Reform Commission is tackling some major items today, including Council members' ability to intervene in planning board decisions. That was a central authority in the Jose Huizar real estate developer corruption case. They're punting, for now, to do further study.

I'm with @awalkerinla.bsky.social: Netflix sponsoring CicLAvia to promote "Stranger Things" is awesome, but at the same time: "No one needs to dream up imaginary monsters trying to murder our children, they're parked right there in our driveways." www.torched.la/the-upside-d...
The upside down
The spectacle that unfolded along four miles of Melrose on the Sunday before Thanksgiving was a portal into LA's age of activations

Aventon is sending me a new battery + terminal under warranty <3 #bikesky
So I’ve been having this problem with my e-bike where it will just randomly turn off. Finally had time to examine things and well…I’ve got scorching on my battery terminal 😭

I don't really understand the discourse around urban multi-family housing not being suitable for families. I (and most of my fellow born-and-raised Angeleno friends) grew up in apartments, and it's totally fine!

Seems even many urbanists have come to believe this mythos and I just don't get it.

It introduced a lot of new people to CicLAvia, which I applaud.
But, I worry that it will become an excuse by elected officials to not fund future open streets events.
We can't allow open streets to become like bus shelters, built only where advertisers can find the wealthy

Today's event was sponsored by Netflix Stranger Things: One Last Ride.
It almost was the last ride as major event sponsor, Metro (transit agency) almost zeroed out CicLAvia budget to make up for freeway widening shortfall (CA 91/I-605). Thankfully, didn't pass.

I was not prepared for how busy CicLAvia would be today!

Effective drainage systems are an underrated, important component of making truly walkable, human-oriented cities. It’s hard to convince people to live than non-driver lifestyle when nearly every rainfall includes ankle-deep puddles #urbanism+ #LA

Whenever it rains in LA, I always think about the “Emerald Necklace Vision Plan”, which, if implemented, would result in expanded parks and green space along several waterways in the area.

This is so funny. Sherman Oaks deserves better than Brad Sherman. #LA
Why did California Congressman Brad Sherman feel it was appropriate to look at porn on his iPad during a flight today? His district deserves better representation than this!! #CA32

Reflections on last week's #WeekWithoutDriving in a city that still refuses to acknowledge the existence of its nondrivers — which a comprehensive new report claims make up one-third of LA's population
One-third of Angelenos do not drive
Walking back the "car-free" games promise is unconscionable in a city where the people who don't drive are also the most vulnerable users of our streets

All it took to get this quick-build safety upgrade was 10 years, the death of Nadir Gavarrete, and the guerilla work of the @crosswalksla.bsky.social

Hey @ladotofficial.bsky.social, you've had funding for 14 years to fix 4th & New Hampshire in Ktown, but instead you did nothing, which killed Nadir. Amazing that it only took you three months to remove our crosswalks and memorial. Put them back in or we will. Again. And again. And again.

It bothers me that after billions spent building a rail system, we are left with a system that is too slow, too unreliable and too uncomfortable to be useful.
