Politics aside, LA28's silence is so perplexing from a strategic perspective. The refusal to guarantee the safety of LA's immigrant community could end up seriously impacting the organizing committee's ability to deliver the games.

Even the Dodgers eventually said something. What is going on?
During the past six months, virtually every civic organization in Southern California has put out a statement denouncing ICE activity. Yet LA28, the private nonprofit that serves as LA's Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee, and aspires to be a civic organization, has said nothing
Why won't LA28 support LA's immigrants?
"An Olympics and Paralympics security plan that gives control to a federal administration that is already attacking immigrants in our city and across the nation puts our entire community at risk"

Streets for All is asking Board of Public Works reconsider the HLA appeals they denied last week.
Los Angeles is trying to avoid HLA by claiming that it is “restriping without making other improvements” when, in fact, it’s making many other changes across multiple projects.

This behavior must stop.

Outside of 1.4 mile of new bus lanes (😍) this 5-mile project isn't much... but as a cyclist, I dread riding on these frankly dangerously poorly maintained streets (especially Alvarado by the 101), so I am relieved that Caltrans will finally resurface.
Caltrans is rehabbing 5 miles of Santa Monica Blvd, Glendale Blvd, & Alvarado Street. The project adds new bus lanes on SaMo Blvd (from the 405 to Centinela), plus resurfacing, sidewalk repair/upgrade, bus stop upgrades. Sidewalk work is well underway on Alvarado. la.streetsblog.org/2025/12/03/e...
