Watch Half Life 3 simultaneously be a VR and non-VR title, with it's gameplay mechanics changing depending on if you're playing it in VR or not.

(This is just a crackpot idea; don't put too much thought into it.)

Execs always claim bloated budgets increase retail prices. This is a lie.

They will always increase prices to whatever they think they can get away with. Always have, always will. AI is merely a new get-richer-quicker scheme.

And execs will never admit the most bloated costs… are themselves.
- AI is used to offload the "tedious" work so devs can focus on the artistic side of things

- AI will make games cheaper to and faster to produce

Still a $70 game btw...

Talk about "How the mighty have fallen" and all that. Yikes.

Over 143,833 player difference currently, and the "Call of Duty" one includes BO7, BO6, MW3, and MW2 all in one.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions is still one of the more fascinating games to come out of Nintendo and Atlus's history. I do wonder what would have happened if the game had been more like the intended crossover. It's not like "Fire Emblem meets Shin Megami Tensei" is hard to imagine either.

You can make Linux look very nice. Here's Fedora KDE with some customizations to the wallpaper, theme, and panel. All default/included options - nothing downloaded besides the mandatory system updates.

So the streamer Ludwig recently found out that one of his earliest regular viewers, who was trans, passed away and tonight he's doing a charity stream for the Trevor Project. So far he's raised over $46,000 in about 5 hours. www.twitch.tv/ludwig

One thing I always disliked about the original Halo is that the marines are incredibly stupid. And in a way that actively harms the narrative. It's one game where I wish they had some sort of invulnerability.

The constant refrain of getting reinforcements only for them to die seconds later is old.

When I first got here alt text was a huge part of the art culture here. I've gotten very sad to see it fading and I'd like it to resurge.
ALT Text benefits everyone

Alt text helps with accessibility, identifying/explaining elements you might not get to in your posts and makes your posts/work more discoverable - Make sure to toggle it on to “require alt text” in your settings

it's rlly interested to me that using AI during development for E33 never shows up in discourse about that game

like we know they did for a fact because they forgot to replace one of the textures for launch

Looks like @rockpapershotgun.bsky.social has a really good article on the new Steam Controller. And mentions using the trackpads as a primary input in Portal 2. Kudos to them!

Valve’s new Steam Controller aims to entice a broader field of PC players, which I fear already includes me

It's also annoying to see that people who TESTED the controller didn't test out the trackpads extensively. Like here's PC Gamer's article on the #SteamController. And there's just a casual mention of Balatro. No actual information about how they feel as a primary input.

One of the things most obnoxious about the #SteamController marketing from Valve is that I see no use of the trackpads in it. This make me worry that they are not comfortable to use long term. If you go to store.steampowered.com/sale/steamco... there's not a single shot of the trackpads in use.

it's not the PS5, it's the fact we've now reached the point where no real improvements can be made. There's never really going to be an 'exciting' jump in hardware again. Even the Switch 2 wasn't exciting cuz we saw that trick already with the Switch and Steam Deck
Whenever I chat to anyone about the PS5's life so far, am I typically met with a waft of lukewarm praise or shrug of plain ambivalence? Why hasn't it captivated people - at least me - in the way the PS4 did? https://bit.ly/3LCEQZu

In honor of the new Steam Controller being announced, I shall break out the original Steam Controller and play like Hades 2 with it for a bit.

...I have not used this controller in awhile and it shows.

The Steam Machine and Steam Frame are both curiously interesting devices. I can't help but want to try out both of them. However I feel like the future of both devices hinges on one burning question - What's the price?

That's going to make or break them, and I can't help but feel concerned there.

So @cendotharl.etheirys.social and I went looking for the aurora borealis here. But it seems there's too much light. You can only see it using cameras and night mode. Not with the naked eye. :/

Oh well, at least it got a couple cool pictures (that we can't share because of location.)

Okay so I lied - I am curious about the Steam Frame too even if I can't play VR games. But I am VERY curious about the Steam Machine now. If the price is right, I might be genuinely interested in buying something like that.
In for the Steam Controller. Curious about the Steam Machine. Indifferent about the Steam Frame mostly on the account that I can't play any VR anymore, but also because I suspect it will be way too costly anyhow.
Steam Frame, Steam Controller, Steam Machine announcement is expected soon, here's a first look!
