The opposition is just as incompetent as the current administration, and our country keeps voting for both of them. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Democrats could act like a real opposition party, refusing to validate Trump malfeasance with votes, and setting up a shadow cabinet that regularly communicates how Democrats would be different. But nah.

It’s not only a majority of Democratic voters that hate this approach. US allies see it too.
The incredibly lukewarm Democratic response on Greenland is being noticed in Europe, incidentally.

Chuck Schumer not finding a stronger word than “quixotic” for Trump’s plan to seize Greenland has been name checked to me more than once.

Ok, like, I hate the bourgeois aspect of this nonsense. But why bring furries into it? I don’t know a single furry who supports this assturd of an administration. And even if there are rich furries, don’t just make blanket associations between furries and Mar-a-Lago asshats and Trump. It’s not fair.

This is about scaring anyone who would report on things the Trump administration wants to keep secret. Intimidating a free press is a hallmark of authoritarians.

Remember: The real freeloaders in this country are the rich — not the poor or immigrants or any other group of people vilified as scapegoats. The richest 1% evade $163 billion in taxes every year. The United States literally has yacht and private jet tax deductions. Hello?

I’m sick of all this hateful bullshit everywhere.
Portlanders must stand together to reject this vile racism and the politicians that abide it. It has no place in our politics, but is clearly rampant in local right wing political circles just as it is nationally.
The Mercury has obtained a series of images of group messages that show racist, sexist, and homophobic tropes used by a local developer and other local conservative political activists during a council president election. Readers may find this content offensive.

Had a great time at this event and learning about the creation and evolution of Jimmy Olsen and how these stories capture the liminal space of growing up in a kind of unhinged dream (a lot like the crazy coming-of-age 80’s movies I grew up with).

So cops can declare a curfew and abuse, discipline, and arrest protesters, even those doing so legally, because those protesters don't have bigger guns, whereas ICE can act illegally because they do have bigger guns. Many troubling conclusions naturally follow!
"The question that you're basically asking is, can our cops arrest them? From a legal perspective, yes. From a practical perspective...they have bigger guns than we do." That's where we're at.

What does that even mean, though? What are you actually going to do as the governor of the state of Oregon to stop it and protect Oregonians? Like, aren’t you in charge of the state, its state police, and national guard? I’m very confused here. Why is Trump the only one willing to use state power?
January 9, 2026 at 3:54 AM
Hm. Maybe communities should consider going back to organizing local militias to help protect themselves and “execute the laws of the Union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions,” even if those invasions happen to be coming from ‘inside the house’ so to speak.
JUST IN: Vice President JD Vance says the ICE agent who killed American citizen Renee Good can’t be touched. Absolute immunity. Murder sanctioned by the federal government.

If only the mayor ordered the Portland Police Bureau to protect the city’s citizens from these armed gangs, and the governor ordered the state police and Oregon national guard to do the same. But I guess ‘investigating’ it and asking them politely yet sternly to stop will yield similar results. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officers have shot two people in Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau. The shooting took place at 2:18 pm on Southeast Main street, but the victims, one male and one female, were found at 146th and East Burnside minutes later.

Top Democrats decline to do anything so as not to upset their imaginary moderate Republican base and make sure they lose plenty of leftists to principled protest votes and the entire country remains just as divided and dysfunctional. Maybe willing to offer thoughts and prayers, though.

One can hope so. And one can also hope that we all don’t end up in the woke gulag, which I’m sure SCOTUS will find perfectly legal.
ICE agents killing people in the streets. The naked extortion of a sovereign state. The National Guard unleashed in American cities. The Justice Department weaponized to prosecute political opponents.

The tyranny is on full display — and it's waking America up.

Sadly, the true is when you’re in charge of enforcing the law, the law is whatever you want it to be. If you tried to stop them from unlawfully entering your home, they could just kill you and say it was self-defense. You think a judge’s opinion matters if there’s no one to enforce it?
That's highly illegal. The government cannot go to someone's house without a warrant or probable cause.
JD Vance: "It was a legitimate law enforcement operation. We were going door to door to try to find criminal illegal aliens and deport them from the United States ... say a prayer for that agent ... he deserves a debt of gratitude."

Abso-fucking-lutely this x ♾️.
Chuck we already have answers, they're doling them out! The answers are fake drug charges, unrealizable dreams of oil revenue, reestablishing the Monroe Doctrine, aiming at Cuba. What more information do you need? What would you do with it that you can't do now? We need action, not chatter.
We need public hearings NOW.

The American people deserve transparency and accountability for this administration’s dangerous actions in Venezuela and their plans to create more chaos in the region.
