It’s very sappy and over sentimental but sometimes, but it’s a testament to peoples character that even if you don’t know them personally or havent spoken to them in a long time their passing still lays you out. This isn’t a novel insight. Just really sucks.

It’s a little bit funny that the Calvinist churches I grew up in always emphasized that god doesn’t actively, directly punish people for specific sins they commit and then they all voted for a guy that says “no actually he does but only when it’s about me.”

the sooner everyone in the US electorate and public service understands that there is no normal to be found or returned to here the better we all will be. the time for half measures and norms has long passed.

almost like those were all fun little lies we told ourselves to coverup the fact that this system we live under is broken to the core and always has been and now that this is being exposed as deeply broken and fascist, we have to race for a new narrative to accommodate, many such cases

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

ICE just posted this video to Twitter with the caption:

the idea that your heart should not break for Palestinians isn’t really tenable anymore, so now we get the suspicion that your sympathy might be exploited by malicious actors
i can understand being skeptical of alleged palestinian accounts asking for donations. i can understand not giving them money and ignoring or even blocking them. but i dont really understand the need to actively lecture everyone that the accounts are all scams, especially when you yourself dont know

Regular traffic on Pike Place will be cut off, with certain exceptions. The goal of restricting cars is to improve Market access and safety for pedestrians.

“Where has communism worked”

imagine two buttons

Button 1: You become a random person in the bottom 50% of any capitalist country (India, Ghana, Chile, Bangladesh etc included)

Button 2: You become a random person in the bottom 50% of Vietnam, Cuba or China

Anyone with a brain hits button 2.

Pete Buttigieg enabled Elon Musk to wantonly break the law more than any other agency head, and it's not even close. Had he done his job and not interceded multiple times explicitly on Musk's behalf from 2021-23, Musk would be bankrupt.

Thanks Pete ☺️
I truly believe this is our only real chance. He has remained steadfast, brilliant, and forward-thinking.

An example of how American airstrikes in Yemen are targeting every sort of civil infrastructure: a sheep farm in al-Hazm was targeted directly by a bomb tonight. Look at the size of the crater, hit squarely where the livestock was held.
