'Disunity is death' – but Labor's cowed caucus has a cost too
"Disunity is death" is a phrase often used in Labor circles, but it’s rarely discussed how government unity at all costs fragments society.

Where it all went wrong: the case against John Howard is available for pre-order and you should get it just because it is going to make Alexander Downer very mad 😇 (You can also ask for it at your library 💖)

You can pre-order it at any of your faves

a letter sent by snail mail to your local MP and one to the Minister with slightly different tone is good also. Local MP will have to write to Minister and get back to you. #sapol
In 2024 you all combined to write and complain about the NACC's Robodebt non-investigation

Over 1000 people complained

It's time to make yourself heard again

Take 30 secs or 30 mins to write to the Adelaide Festival board about their actions

Voice your complaint

Be heard

My information is that this is an out and out lie.

It's extraordinary that the SA Premier sees no problem trashing the reputation of one of the few organisations in his state that is internationally celebrated as a leader in its field.

Don Dunstan must be turning in his grave.

She will. I knew Virginia Bell when she worked at Redfern Legal Centre and I was a lowly law student volunteer. Her integrity and passion for justice had a profound effect on me, and I've watched her career since then, all the way to Justice of the High Court. She will not tick boxes.
Quite genuinely, this is why Frydenberg et al never wanted Bell as commissioner. She will no doubt examine real, appalling instances of antisemitism, and the extremism that led to Bondi massacre, but I suspect she will spend at least some time on the plain truth of Israel’s campaign for silence.

People who paid pure lip-service to a Royal Commission's findings suggesting we need a Royal Commission.

Glorious. Stick it on the front page.
How about business leaders first institute all the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry?

@ronnisalt.bsky.social is one of Australia's most gifted writers. This is unarguably one of her most powerful and important pieces. Read it, share it, reflect upon it, and act for peace, compassion, empathy, and understanding.

Thank you, @ronnisalt.bsky.social.

Albanese Government set to use social media ban as cover to water down gambling reforms yet again
If Albanese is serious about ‘progressive patriotism’ he could start by prioritising the livelihoods of Australians over the profits of gambling companies.

Quite obvious that @albomp.bsky.social Govt stuffed up NDIS & Support at Home Program for seniors by outsourcing govt service delivery to a plethora of price-gouging private sector outfits who are bleeding these programs dry.
All service delivery should be effected by govt employees only

Shame @albomp.bsky.social more than shame. You have lost any real values for Australia that we might have perceived you had. One less submarine? One less naval port? US housing subsidies...soon there will be nothing to defend. Ripping the guts out of research is idiotic.
$350 billion for Aukus submarines but we can’t afford 350 research jobs
A government that can’t bring itself to tax fossil fuel, big tech or any wealth properly but defunds its critical institutions is not a good government, sorry

Smoke and mirrors doesn't work any more. Shame albanese shame.
This is why for a long time I've found the Prime Minister's Prizes for Science a rather insulting propaganda exercise

www.abc.net.au/news/science...

CSIRO funding as a percentage of GDP:

1982-83 = 0.17

2024-25 = 0.03

...

Scientific extinction event imminent?
The CSIRO cuts are just the tip of the iceberg for Australia's science funding
Australia is known as a country of innovators, but with a combination of brain drain, continuous cuts, and a loss of critical science projects, is Australia losing its edge?
