great tips here. also:
- if your power goes out, only run gas generators OUTSIDE
- put up blankets in doorways/over windows to trap heat in the room you use most
- keep curtains closed unless the sun is shining directly in
check your gutters and downspouts now to make sure they're clear

If you're in a place where it doesn't snow (like me) and living in places that aren't built to code for snow then remember to:
- drip your pipes
- keep your sink cabinets open to help circulate warmth so pipes don't freeze
- try to keep the heat on (if you can) at least 60 degrees or higher.

you’re already ahead. stay with it. minneapolis stripped these forces of legitimacy (a battle other cities won’t have to repeat). remember they are completely outmanned. their only real advantage is their organizational capacity. out-organize them & the illusion of control will collapse.
I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.
The US Department of Agriculture suspends all federal funding to Minnesota, effective immediately.

Flu deaths exceeded COVID deaths last winter and we may be on track for the same thing this year!
I can speak anecdotally that at the hospital I work at we’ve had very low covid census. We test anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms, and we’ve had very few people with Covid who have needed to be hospitalized. Which is a relief because we are absolutely inundated with flu rn
