Ottawa sportif dad. Why visegripmikey? I once volunteered at a bike shop when I was 14 and ended up mashing a titanium bolt with a pair of vise grips. Moniker by the master mechanic stuck!
Riding home, I stopped at a beach for a few minutes before continuing on my way. Drivers are so committed to the timing of their commute that they are locked in, and would have to pay to park just to enjoy the same moment. #bikefreedom

For years we've heard from US fossil fuel fans that there is no reason for the US to reduce emissions because, "What about China?"

Now that China is reducing emissions I expect we will hear the same people say the US doesn't need to reduce emissions because: China is doing it for us!
Analysis: Clean energy just put China’s CO2 emissions into reverse for first time - Carbon Brief
For the first time, the growth in China’s clean power generation has caused the nation’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to fall despite rapid power demand growth.

Midnight Life of a Home Bike Mechanic
“Swap studded winter tires out for summer”
Remove tires; clean rims.
Mount tire; new inner tube.
Replace worn brake pads.
V-brakes seized; remove and refurbish.
Adjust pad distance.
Wheel wobble; true rim.
Loose hubs; degrease and repack.
2 hours later.

Since Canada’s population is ten times smaller than the US’, a vote here has ten times the influence. And if voter turnout keeps declining, that power is given over to less people. People who don’t vote have been convinced their riding will go the way they think it will. Vote and find out.

Finally a good use of AI: Lyrics in the style of Metal:

**"Induced Demand"** *(inspired by "Toxicity")*

**[Verse 1]**
Build the roads, stretch the veins,
Pour the concrete through the pain,
Widen lanes, but nothing's changed—
The cars still scream like acid rain.

Reckless Trumpism from Badenoch, abandoning Net Zero. Not a care for the actual evidence.

The Climate Change Committee has shown that investing in Net Zero will deliver the UK annual savings of around £20 billion by 2045 and almost £40bn by 2050.

This is echoed by many others: 🧵

Driver 1: Stops car in bike lane.
Cyclist: Hi, can you block the car lane please? Also this is a no stopping zone
Driver 1: Sorry!
Driver behind honks horn.
Driver 1 pushes even more into bike lane.
Cyclist: 🤦🏻 😤

Costa Rica has massively rewilded over recent decades. Has this led to the collapse of farming, rural society, or national wellbeing?

Totally the opposite, and we in Ireland have SO much to learn from their example. My piece for the @irishexaminer.bsky.social

Does anyone else feel that globally, we need to be negative in climate heating emissions by 2050, and not just neutral? I feel that the carbon neutral goal is missing some math and other critical elements that are warming the climate.

Climate change is an environmental issue – but it’s not only an environmental issue.

It affects our health, and the economy. It impacts food, water, and resources. It contributes to geopolitical instability and even conflict.

Here are the Canadian scientists who study this.

Curious to know, have barriers to voting been studied? I find it hard to believe that less than 50% of eligible voters get to control who the other 50% get to be governed by.

Got to start cosplaying as drivers to get cycling infrastructure installed. Point out to councillors how much room there is for a protected bike lane. How without protection it frightens you to pass them. Keep it going…
