Ottawa sportif dad. Why visegripmikey? I once volunteered at a bike shop when I was 14 and ended up mashing a titanium bolt with a pair of vise grips. Moniker by the master mechanic stuck!

I think China has demonstrated that with government investment, a Canadian company can successfully build electric cars and batteries here. There is more than enough expertise and resources.

I don’t live there but if possible, pick one road and organize a bike bus for the morning and afternoon commute. And then write to your councillor “as a driver” how a bike lane needs to be installed.

**[Outro - haunting, soft, fading]**
One hour a day...
One thousand trips...
Distance grows, but we don’t shift.
Still we drive…
Still we drift…

**[Chorus - Screamed]**
*Why do we drive through the fire?*
*Why do we lie to go faster?*
*Why do we pave over answers?*
*Choking the breath from the planet’s chest!*
Trillion dollar... black hole... yes!

**[Breakdown]**
Concrete prophets never learn,
GDP must crash and burn,
Faster roads just twist and turn—
Back into the jaws we spurned.

**[Bridge – Spoken/whispered chaos, SOAD-style]**
Cheonggyecheon... Seoul rewrote the code.
No collapse. No doom.
Just a river where roads used to bloom.
Toronto widens—again.
Again. Again. Again...

**[Verse 2]**
Policies drawn with rusted pens,
Minister says, “We’ll build again!”
Subsidize the space to park—
25% of city dark.
Railways starve, the bike ignored,
Noise and death our new reward.
Progress trapped behind a wheel,
Steel confessionals—pray and kneel.

**[Chorus]**
*Why do we drive through the fire?*
*Why do we lie to go faster?*
*Why do we pave over answers?*
*Tearing the lungs from the city’s chest!*
Trillion dollar black hole mess.

Time ain't saved, it's just displaced,
Miles grow, but what's the pace?
One more jam in the human race,
Breathing smog and metal waste.

**[Pre-Chorus]**
Parking lots and concrete dreams,
Dollar signs and oil streams,
Induced demand, a dirty scheme,
Sell congestion wrapped in steam!

And over a million injured and their extended victims...

Huh, birdseed.

Question: Why only 38% by 2100? Seeing the glacial retreat along the Icefields Parkway in Alberta in 2022 vs when I last visited 20 yrs ago, and knowing how snowpack is thinner at the top compared to its mid-section, I feel like it’ll be gone completely by the end of the century.

I’ve resorted to just watching recaps. And I completely agree. Betting has become the new cigarettes and alcohol addiction.

Wait ‘til you see how much protection road construction workers get… which makes sense, but then, if those humans in the road are protected so well, why aren’t others just as well protected?

Can’t wait for drivers to wake up and realize they are actually pedestrians. Must be some sort of reverse NIMBYism: Not On My Drive to Work-ism.

More cyclists cosplaying as drivers please :)

Evidence of old stubborn attitudes that bikes are just for recreation. These multi-use paths are an example of an ideal for commuting cyclists- away reckless drivers; quiet; serene scenery; nearly uninterrupted. They are also so successful that they have many overcrowded sections come summer.
