Seems like the past is already being rewritten. Zoomers and younger are gonna see previous US political eras before Trump like a foreign country. And I don't wanna put those eras on a pedestal, they ultimately gave us Trump.

I wish the founding fathers had made flag-burning an honored national tradition to celebrate free speech. Fireworks, parades, and burning flags on the 4th. People won't get so psychotically attached to a piece of fabric rather than the freedoms that fabric represents, including the right to burn it.

God Newsom is so cringe. I don't buy into "the Left can't meme" but he most certainly cannot.

I think a good barometer to what Grokipedia is will be the Portland, Oregon article. Will we get a slightly right-biased Wikipedia copy-pasted AI paraphrase rewrite, or a description of a literal warzone?

Jan 6 will be the playbook for every election Republicans "lose" now. It'll become a regular governing ritual like the debt ceiling and government shutdowns and Senate filibuster and not confirming judicial appointments. Will give Taiwanese parliament brawls a run for the money.

I do think Trump is largely reactive. He's not a long-term visionary or planner the way the Heritage Foundation or some of his Cabinet is. The only real policy that seems to be uniquely his idea is the tariffs. He's a true believer in tariffs.

I think the main thing that's changed about American conservatism over the past decade or two is that the dominance games have turned from foreign policy to domestic culture wars. I can't tell which is better or worse for humanity.

An increasing number of people now seem to believe political pluralism was a bad idea. There is a good party and a bad party. Why do we have to have a bad party? Why can't we just have a good party?

Plenty of fine folks also support throwing people into lifelong torture prisons in El Salvador with no due process. It's only for suspected illegals and totally won't be abused to gulag those who aren't criminal noncitizens, pinkie promise! 🤞

AI is the ideal technology to accompany the decline of America.

It caters to the entitled, to those who have no desire to learn and think they know everything, it destroys creativity and critical thinking, and lays the cultural foundation for fascism.

My belief now does land toward a sort of mistake more than conflict theory of how things got this way. I think on the largest scale, something about the brain's scarcity and reward circuits were hijacked and fed into this right-populist / neo-reactionary / neoliberal-nostalgic attractor.

yarvin is like one percent as intelligent as he thinks he is, and his knowledge of history is a quarter inch deep. his only real genius is in packaging his ignorance in a way that made very old right wing ideas sound new and shiny to young tech bros who are nominally literate
So Curtis Yarvin is a fool, so it will not surprise you that 'executive' is not, in fact, a 'literal synonym' of 'monarchy.'

Executive is just "that which carries out" from Latin exsequor, 'to follow to completion.' There is no etymological reason the executive needs to be a single person.
Always funny to me that Yarvin is held up as the great intellect of the New Right and then when he argues for stuff it's this - here's some etymology for a synonym of a word you're using, so we gotta have a tyrant -- checkmate libs. Behold the philosopher.

Been doing a deep dive into Hoarders lately. It's crazy how much of myself I see in them. It's linked to OCD, ADHD, executive dysfunction, and other neuroses I share.

It kinda changed my whole view on habits, we're meant to work and have responsibilities.
