Once again, one of the most consistently replicated findings in the history of experiments is that giving people cash with zero strings attached has massive social benefits for those receiving the cash as well as the community around them
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

I can't stress enough that you should take every opportunity that comes your way to support your local public libraries. Many of them are currently struggling and are being DEFUNDED. Local action matters on this front. Don't sit back until those libraries are gone before taking ACTION.

Old magazines could be so cheap because they generally wanted to get in front of as many people as possible so they could charge a *lot* of money for dozens of glossy ads in each issue. Most online journalism subscriptions today are ad free, which is good but changes the economics substantially.

The term AI is so meaningless that I basically sound like a crank whenever anyone mentions “AI” in front of me. There are useful tools! But it’s not the society shifting revolution they keep marketing it as! At least not yet and there needs to be real education on what ML is and what it’s not.
