Dr. Annie Andrews on one reason why she’s challenging Sen. Lindsey Graham: “There’s one way to stop the spread of measles—vaccinations. I’m a pediatrician—and a measles outbreak is surging in my home state of South Carolina. This was all preventable, and we need to be honest about how we got here.”
Opinion | I’m a South Carolina pediatrician. This measles outbreak was preventable.

Support science on Bluesky.
Tell any of the scientists you know who have remained on the site everyone still calls Twitter, even though it's nothing like Twitter.
Bluesky is the new science Twitter, new study by @whysharksmatter.bsky.social and Julia Wester concludes!

"Results show that for every reported professional benefit that scientists once gained from Twitter, scientists can now gain that benefit more effectively on Bluesky than on Twitter."

New in PN: Trump is clowning his evangelical base

"Trump now knows religious conservatives and their motivations well enough that he doesn’t feel a need to perform anymore. Like his supporters, he’s stopped pretending he’s anything but his worst self."

Not sure who needs to hear this but the voter fraud rate is a mere 0.000003%. Anyone telling you otherwise is making shit up so they can take away your right to vote.

Why push for things known to harm instead of looking for things that could actually provide benefit? Because the harmful things are profitable

Cato Institute just nuked the lie. Immigrants have cut U.S. deficits by $14.5 TRILLION since 1994, slashing the national debt by a third.

All that “immigrants are bleeding us dry” noise? Absolute bullshit.

Trump wants to change voting. His ICE are making cities dangerous. The economy is bad. We've lost myriad allies. He's redesigning the WH in and out. He's ripped history out of D.C.'s museums. He's fired countless workers. He's joined at Putin's hip. I could go on, but I think there's a point.

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

Let's get real. The constitution already prohibits warrantless search and seizure, protects free assembly, etc. Judges orders are being ignored daily. Passing another law they plan to ignore (Epstein files anyone?) just feels like legitimatizing the foundational endeavor.
Here's Senator Chris Murphy's extended discussion of this group of restrictions on ICE:
