In honor of Russell Hoban’s 101st birthday, I’m currently rereading his eerie and poetic 1996 science fiction novel Fremder, so I thought I’d share a few favorite quotes from that. #SA4QE @russellhoban.bsky.social

Devastatingly sad.
Every Labour MP should be forced to read this. In fact, every MP, who rushed back to Parliament to vote to save one steel mill, whilst hastening the collapse of dozens of universities - and harming the students, staff, communities and economies universities sustain and support

Imagining their campuses and faculties rising up and stomping across south east England like some academic Godzilla, laying waste to everything in their path until meeting somewhere in the middle (RIP Rochester?) to award monster-sized degrees

This bastion of moral virtue has opinions about the Green Party.

Just remember that as they continue to attack us.

This is who they are. Mask is off.

Went to see 2:22 A Ghost Story. Hadn’t been to the theatre for years. Quite good, not as scary as I’d anticipated. The actors’ voices were quite soft. I could hear, but only just at times. I suppose we’ve become so used to the volume of films & amplified music that we forget how actors really sound.

Supposedly a showing of Melania at the Islington Vue was sold out. That’s 60 seats, folks. Big time.

Not saying I’m enjoying the Peter Mandelson saga but hey Petey you know who isn’t in the Epstein files?

“How can the very respected Devonshire pub, a short walk away in Piccadilly, be doing more for the image of Guinness than a hundred executives on six-figure wages organising this extravaganza?” Ah well there’s your answer Grace.

If 26 Americans or Israelis or Germans were murdered today, it would be the top headline on every network.

They keep telling you “the war is over” while this happens, because their idea of a peaceful, “normal” order is one where Israel gets to mass murder Palestinians at will.

Very bleary this morning. Trimmed my beard with the guard off by mistake, so don't have much beard now, but worse, took a clump of hair out attempting a trim around the temple. Was due a haircut anyway but to make it all match up my barber had to take off most of my hair. Good start to the weekend.

...one third are murdered by cops. In other words, Americans are killed by their own government EVERY SINGLE DAY, and that has been true for decades. Y'all just never bothered to care when it was mostly black people, Hispanic people, American Indians, and those the government brands "criminals".

To those saying, "but the Greens will split the vote":
1. Things have changed.
2. It's not the Green's fault that Starmer has the Merdas Touch (turns everything to shit)
3. When the Greens offer the only inspiring option, perhaps we should see the Labour candidate as splitting the vote.
