happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

If you campaigned for the presidency on a promise to destroy these assholes, you would win a landslide the size of FDR in 1936, when he campaigned on a promise to destroy these assholes.
Yes, Peter decided that the continued existence of our democracies isn't compatible with his desired level of personal freedom.

An absolute enemy of humanity.

Before you say, "this isn't the America I know," remember America took Native children from their families. Built its wealth on slavery. Locked up Japanese Americans. Now they're doing it to immigrants, and... everyone.

$170B could have paid for meals for schoolkids for a full decade.

$170B could have helped end homelessness by providing housing for every unhoused American 17 times over.

$170B could have restored funding for clean drinking water programs for 60+ yrs.

Instead, we’re terrorizing our communities.
As we noted at @americasvoice.bsky.social last year, $170B in anti-immigrant funding could instead have built more than 7,000 new elementary schools, paid for more than 1.5 million young Americans to attend an in-state public college for four years, or funded Head Start for nearly 14 years 👇🏽
Stephen Miller Is Getting $170 Billion To Build His Own Army To Target Our Immigrant Neighbors. Here’s What That Funding Could Do Instead
This unprecedented allocation of taxpayer money could go to helping working families all across America, on everything from education, hunger, housing, healthcare, and the environment.

I understand it's hard for some to use the term concentration camp, even for those horrified by what's happening. And there are settings (e.g., court) where it may not be helpful today. The key thing to realize is that there's an arc of how detention regimes tend to go, and we're recognizably on it.

Arresting journalists.

Fatally shooting protestors.

Turning the military on citizens.

Attempting to rig elections.

Toying with the idea of declaring martial law.

If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?

This is how authoritarian narratives work you smear the victim, praise the armed agent, and ignore the killing. No video justifies an execution. No insult erases due process. This is propaganda, not accountability.

Minneapolis should press its momentum and demand not only withdrawal but start talking about the need for immediate reparations, loudly, with the total certainty that only winners have. "You have wronged us terribly and must pay recompense" and let them argue the second part.

ICE patrolling around Falwell Hall and Dinkytown this week

Nothing has changed.
I would beseech the national media to stop writing sentences like one I just read that said basically "ICE's time in Minnesota is almost up." That is NOT an established fact. Please do not turn away. Please check the readily available information from people on the ground and local journalists.
From everything I’m hearing and reading, nothing in the ground in the Twin Cities has meaningfully changed.

Campbell Archibald Mellon captured the fleeting glories of the English seaside summer, the escape for many thousands to Gorleston in Norfolk. His paintings (this is c1930) often stressed a celebratory brightness or as here, a typically grey day on the coast.
