"a single person of this demographic may have committed a crime, therefore we must punish the entire demographic" is a policy response you may recognize from fascist governments dedicated to ethnic cleansing elsewhere.
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

Freelance illustration gigs drying up. Ad agencies using Midjourney instead of hiring human artists. Costume design turned over to AI wholesale. Good work vanishing.

These are the stories of working visual artists, who describe losing jobs, wages, and hope as their clients and bosses embrace AI.

Visual artists, illustrators and graphic designers share their stories about how AI is being used to lower wages, degrade work and even replace it altogether, in this installment of AI Killed My Job.

I really just think it's class and racial solidarity at work. They see themselves in him and they do not have solidarity with his targets.
The reason Charlie Kirk is being lionized by so many journalists is simple: he was very good at cultivating journalists and it seems a lot of journalists don't seem to understand the concept of being cultivated as a pet reporter in exchange for scoops or leads. They think he was their friend.

Thinking about the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing and how Italy's security services blamed it on anarchists, arrested nearly 100 activists and threw one of them out the 4th floor window of the police station.

The bombing was carried out by a neo-fascist group with ties to the state security services.

America is built on prison labor. When will the labor movement defend prisoners?

the difference between Dem politicians like Beshear & Walz (who say supportive things about LGBTQ ppl) and the Newsoms, Emanuels & other Dem politicians/pundits throwing trans ppl under the bus isn't "strategy", it's that the latter group is transphobic
If the (wildly popular) governor of Kentucky can say this with his whole chest then what excuse does the (wildly unpopular) governor of California have?

some of these replies are really cruel and I’d really like people to sit with why their first reaction to hearing about a poisoned, precarious workforce trying to improve their lot is “lol idiots good luck”

So much rhetoric around the medicaid cuts is yet another example of how willing we are to sacrifice poor southerners and Appalachians as scapegoats for the sins of institutionalized racism, which are perpetrated by the rich and powerful, not by someone's papaw who just lost access to insulin.

"I can't believe The New York Times did this" Trans kids? Claudine Gay? Gaza? At some point we have to stop being surprised. The right sees the Times as a vehicle for laundering its conspiracy theories and injecting it into elite America and the Times is very happy to oblige them.

Lots of talk on “law and order,” and “tough on crime” legislation, from both sides of ‘the aisle’.

Why?

As @prisonpolicy.bsky.social reports:

💣 Crime rates are *historically* low

💣 3/4 of all jail bookings are for *nonviolent* charges

💣 3/4 of people in jail have *not* been convicted of a crime
