Nothing quite like having to catch the attention of a security guard on an enclose office just to ask if you can be let in to the *public* washroom.

...and then be perp walked across the transit depot to be let in.

Lethbridge is really special.

Noise cancelling headphones are less good at noise cancelling when you have to wear them over a toque.

Bus noise is still reduced, but I can still hear the people behind me talking.

I have said before and will say again that it is such a loss that we no longer get covers of this caliber for fantasy books.

This art is by Jean-Léon Huens. These covers are for the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. They lit my imagination on fire as a kid.

Shouting this louder.

CITE YOUR GODDAMNED SOURCES!

The fact that MOST misinfo circulates among the right wing doesn't make us lefties immune to falling for nonsense. We're also human and thus fallible.

To minimize the chances of being taken for a ride, CITE SOURCES.

I've noticed a lot of users are interested in joining some iteration of "resistance" to oppose fascists. Allow me to outline some first steps:

1. Cite your sources. And when someone asks you to, or when someone sources your claim for you, say thanks.

Fascists survive on mis- and dis-information.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure the reason for the season is an approximately 23.5° axial tilt relative to the ecliptic plane.

I heard there was a Cohen song,

And all the Christians got it wrong,

But you don’t really get the meaning do ya?

‘Cause you see its about getting laid,

It’s sex, and love, and Jewish faith,

But all the gentiles heard was “hallelujah!”
hey guys i made a seasonal meme

They have great customer service and it was worth me ignoring the algorithm and finding them.

The single most useful thing I have gotten for my modelling hobby was a pack of plastic ramekins/dipping cups. We thought they'd be good for paint mixing (and they are. The lids also seal super well, so you can keep paint/washes for a few days).

But they shine when organizing parts.

Tobacco giants knew their products caused cancer.

Oil companies knew their products cause climate change.

Social media companies know their products facilitate abuse of minors

Seeing a pattern? It’s not a few bad actors it’s a feature of a system that rewards profit at any cost
Imagine knowing your platform was a playground for predators, fueling teen depression, eating disorders, and suicide and deciding the best course of action was… absolutely nothing. Meta didn’t just “miss” anything.

Allowing brands to affect curriculum and indoctrinate students through the very tools students use to learn is disgusting. Google does all it can to make itself not only avoidable but also inevitable. It doesn't have to be this way.
Feeling queasy now I've learned that Google is not only now offering Gemini ambassador certificates to teachers but also awarding students and *children* to be corporate AI mascots. Coercive normalization of commercialized digital education. blog.google/outreach-ini...

Because it apparently bears repetition:

You do not make fun of people for things like their weight, height, voice, baldness, ancestry, etc.

Even if they are horrible people. That is not a get out of jail free card.

Pick something else. Preferably in the actions or thoughts zone.
