This is amazing. I'm no lawyer, but as I understand it judges don't say this kind of thing in court orders. Good for this judge!

Talking about Roald Dahl with @zachweinersmith.bsky.social and @bobwieman.bsky.social reminded me of this audio clip of Dahl reading "The Magic Finger". I still laugh every time I hear it.

(File is a video file because I don't think you can upload audio files to Bluesky.)

“Doctors won’t tell you this, but you don’t need medication for a tapeworm—all you need is the natural power of friction,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said as he dropped to the floor, lifted his legs high, and dragged his ass along the White House carpet during a press conference.

I find @zachweinersmith.bsky.social's take on Roald Dahl fascinatingly strange. To me, the nastiness is central to what Dahl was all about. It's like Ned Flanders's opinion of Woody Allen: "I like his movies, except for that one little nervous guy who's always in them."
So the 11-year-old and I share workspace, and we've been listening to Roald Dahl lately. I like him a lot, but there's a note in much of his work of a kind of... nasty viciousness that I find really off-putting. Like, I just can't get into Matilda (sorry!)

I hope Schumer has a viable primary opponent next time around. I will support the hell out of that person.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.
Senate Democrats plot strategy as DHS standoff deepens heading into shutdown week
Two sources who were on a Democratic caucus strategy call Sunday said Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told the group the message must be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

This could have been the lead story from every news organization in the country if any of them cared that the president is deeply racist.

This is insane. Miami Beach police went to a woman’s house to question her about a comment on Facebook that was critical of the mayor but was obviously protected speech under the first amendment.

As a former Minnesota resident, I strongly confirm point #3. You really have to make an effort to get Minnesotans to be openly hostile to you (as opposed to silently scorning you behind your back), but ICE proved they were up to the challenge.
I've heard rumors that Philadelphia is next for the ICE invasion after Minneapolis.
Maybe I'm wrong, but
1) More than 11% of all ICE agents are in Minneapolis, and they've utterly failed to pacify the city.
2) Philly is 5x the size of Minneapolis.
3) "Minnesota nice" is a thing. We don't have that.

Schumer needs to be defeated as leader in January 2027.

There is real rancor in the caucus with him; this is an achievable goal.

Call your senators, ask your candidates - do not support Schumer for leader.
Just got this forwarded. Here are the talking points Schumer's team just emailed out to their allies TODAY - this afternoon.

The words "Minnesota" or "ICE" don't appear anywhere here.
