This era of a MAGA trifecta will be painful, but we can push back AND stay healthy as individuals & communities if we team up, gear up, and show up!
Pinned
I have a personal Bluesky account that is focused on community-building and conversation on here. I love it!

Today I realized I needed an account to help us all connect, mobilize, and mitigate the impact of MAGA while they are “in control”.

Because they don’t control very much, actually!

More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

Hey folks Calvary Food Shelf has been helping out people in Minneapolis for 30 years, and now they’re ramping up to meet the crisis, including doing home deliveries so people don’t have to risk going out.

They’re just over halfway to their current goal—let’s get them all the way, shall we?

On this topic, & also on the topic of what people outside the Twin Cities metro can do to help:

Talk to your friends/family/etc about what your sources (Bluesky/friends/TikTok/Youtube/whatever) say is actually happening here as opposed to what FoxNews & CNN are saying is happening. Then show them.
we don’t need more national reporters parachuting in attempting to cover minneapolis, actually
Flying to Minneapolis tomorrow to cover the ICE raids for News Agents, what is unfolding and the politics which flows from it. If you’re there or know the city and know people/organisations we should be speaking to, please get in touch.
DMs open.

I’m genuinely praying that this the start of something good being done.

It’s actually really liberating from the grip of paranoia to assume you’re being read or listened to and act accordingly. If you assume what you say is public, if you don’t want someone to see it or hear it, don’t say it or do it. But if you do say it, say it with your whole chest

I think we need a teach in on the Assumptions of George Floyd Square right now to be honest

We are in fact DESPERATE for winter coats, waterproof gloves, and good boots. We get so many wonderful donations but it is so cold and the numbers of unhoused unsheltered people are going up at the absolute worst time for it, and we run out of coats weekly.
The frigid Twin Cities temperatures will hurt the homeless; so do not gloat about the impact on ICE without also stepping up here:
If you're still able to help Minnesota, @supplydepotmpls.bsky.social is always accepting donations. $10 buys a pack of handwarmers. If you were given Amazon gift cards this year for Christmas, you can shop their Amazon wishlist: linktr.ee/sanctuarysup...

it shouldn’t be surprising, but it still is, when major news outlets, even as they report about MN suing the government for this ICE invasion refuse to mention:

-ICE going into homes without warrants
-Randomly stopping people based on skin color
-Detaining citizens
-Harassing schools and churches

And honestly, I think in general this attack on my city shows a total lack of understanding the basic character of Minnesotans, underestimating our tenacity, stubbornness, resilience, communality, and absolute willingness to volunteer for shit and show up. The revolution has a Sign-Up Genius.
I'm at a coffee shop at the moment with a bunch of writer buds, and we just observed a large convoy of ICE vehicles pursued by a much larger convoy of volunteer observers honking their horns with wild abandon. If there's one thing Minnesotans do, it's show up for shit.

If he wants to declare martial law, he will. It won't be based on reality. I don't know why some people continue to say: "be peaceful or he'll invoke martial law." Are you all living in this country in 2026???? Haven't you seen them make things up out of whole cloth???? Are you 10 years old?

If you cannot show up, you perhaps can give?

Make sure you can cover your own immediate needs first, please. But no need to hoard dollars that could be doing heavy lifting today!

It is Sunday night. There is work to do, but we need to set a sustainable pace — for our bodies, our families, & our communities.

Plan away your TV time in exchange for volunteering & helping, but do not plan away the time you need to sleep or do laundry or work or care for others.

Unity in this!
school bus driver? you’re doing great.

social worker? you’re doing great.

phlebotomist? you’re doing great.

personal care attendant? you’re doing great.

addiction counselor? you’re doing great.

school nutrition worker? you’re doing great.
if you are successfully staying focused and making sure systems of care are operating through this time of crisis, you are doing great.

children and elders and vulnerable people and people seeking medical and mental health care—they all need you to be consistent.

you’re doing a great job.

This bystander goes from hysterically calling the police because her door dasher burst into her house to escape ICE and asking the dasher to leave because she’s scared for herself and her baby, to screaming at ICE “Until you have a warrant signed get off my fucking property.”

Everybody should watch this and see this woman, who has a baby in her arms and is thrust into basically a standoff, develop courage in real time.
