nothing has strengthened my belief in the impossibility of the individual quite like reading an anthology where everyone's pieces could have easily been pieces I wrote and were littered with the exact same 'spontaneous' symbols and fascinations that i thought were particular to me.

Whenever I spent time on normie platforms (your threads, your Facebook), I become more and more convinced that a large part of our problem as a nation is the literacy crisis. People have trouble with basic reasoning. They can't follow very simple logic or compound sentences. It's disturbing.

I read an interview today where Alison Bechdel talked about using chatGPT for a panel of her recent comic -- she prompted it and copied the results -- and I still don't know what to do with that. It genuinely feels in moments like this like so many of our art elders are failing us.
Catching up with what James Gurney, the Dinotopia artist, is up to these days. Pathetic.
